    Blackberry 6 Storm compatible?

What do you think are the chances that Blackberry 6 may NOT be compatible with Storm devices?

The 9800 does not have surepress, so maybe RIM may not deem it necessary to create a version of the OS just for the Storm 2? (I'm assuming OS6 will not be working on the S1 anyway because of memory).

I am going to say the chances are slim to none. From what I've read and heard OS 6 will only be compatabile with devices running 512MB.

There are rumors of a 9700a being released which will basically be an upgraded 9700 with 512mb ram. As it it now, the 9650 is the only BB on the market currently that can support OS6. The 9800 should be the next.

The list is very small, and could change. I find it hard to believe that the Storm 2 will be compatible but not the 9630 when the specs are almost identical.

    Me too

I hear that OS 6's cutoff is at 256mb so the list isn't going to be crazy small. So the 9550/9520 and a few others should make the cut.

It shows 9700 on that list, I sure hope it stays that way, I just signed on for another 2 years with Tmo and will be quite upset if it's a no-go for me

If you watch rims keynote speech with their original talk of OS6... They explain there is a reason they display it the "Bold 9700" so yes it works on the 256 and the list above came from an actual person talking off the record at wes... S2 yes... S1 NO...

I think it will be horrible on any device with 256MB. I'll eat my words if it runs good but let's look at the past.
When 5.0 was making the rounds before it came official, it would cripple my Storm1. Memory management was horrible and until the later builds were being leaked was it sufficient for that platform. When devices started to get upgraded hardware, then and mostly then did 5.0 make sense.
Now its the same thing all over again. Except this time we are not seeing the 6.0 leaks.
Is there a reason why other than the obvious. We all know RIM has put the kibosch on most anything leaking but I have felt that we as a BlackBerry community would have had a 6.0 leak by now.
Unless it won't run right on current models and I mean functionaly run right.

I seem to have forgotten to see how much memory my device has... i mean finding the memory my sd card has is no problem but where is the device ram at?
of course im sure my blackberry is already too outdated for os 6 as thats how RIM seems to play :/

OS 5 worked tenfold better on my storm 1 than any previous 4.7 build.

As for the 9800, it might not be surepress but it still has a focus in and focus out variant in BB6 so I don't see RIM having that big of an issue porting it to the Storm 2. I wouldn't worry yourselves just yet. Most of us are diehard BB users and will probably upgrade to a new device within the year anyway

I believe the 8900 has 256 MB of RAM so it should be able to run OS6 if the above assumptions turn out to be accurate.
