i believe 6.0 is "Make it or break it" for Rim's consumer and Corporate users. That video was IMHO, nicely done. The UI looks promising. Then again, "Looks" can always be "Deceiving". I have faith that Rim will Knock our socks off w/6.0 and get w/the program. btw, Very nice find an post Nate

I think this is going to be a pretty decent OS and can't wait to get my hands on it. That being said- I really disagree with it being "make or break" with RIM. There is a whole other world out there that has no idea about OS upgrades and such and they live their BB's the way they roll out. I can't tell you how many BB users that I have talked into upgrading their OS to even the official ones. Many people just don't care and love their phone the way it is. I find this especially true of those just regular consumers who use the phone for a phone e-mail and social networking. That is just my opinion of what I see.
BTW I keep telling them to check out sites like this to really get to know what their BB CAN do!!

I don't get why people think blackberry is so far behind. I honestly think the only thing really lacking is the browser and just with the hybrids floating around that makes it 10x better but also Opera is a great browser though I really think that needs to hit the app world so more people know about it. Androids are nice and fast but my coworkers have them and soon as they put apps on it its not so fast anymore. Also I swear every time I touch an android phone I get a force close on something. Its better then a total lock up and battery pull but I see a lot of force closes.

Just like I tell my customers in the store RIM is starting at the business end and working its way to the consumer while apple and android are doing the opposite. I really think most people when they look at/for phones they don't ask "what do I do the most on my phone" and whatever that answer is you should get the phone that does that the best.

I thought RIM was great but I'm realizing they are so far out of the game. OS6 looks like a great step up but if you think about it, Once RIM realeases something that just barely brings them close to the competion, the competion at that point will be way ahead of that point. I might be bitter right now because I'm on my 8th Storm 2 replacement.
Two mindless points to make here.

1 - I totally agree. I got my wife the incredible and now I cant wait to get away from my S2. I'm leaving RIM ASAP...that is unless 6 comes out before I can and it makes up the gap between the current os and what the incredible has. Thats a wide gap and I really hope 6 does it because I would love to stay BB, but really its like going from a razor to a BB is the gap between RIM and Android.

2 - I updated slacker radio for the first time in months this weekend. It looks 6 ready IMHO. Look and feel seem just like the 6 video.

Your co-workers need to use task panel or some app to close the apps they leave open and it will stay as fast as can be.

One of the things I want to see and havnt seen are widgets. I remember a post that RIM had release some SDK's for widgets, but I've never seen them implemented, unless BerryWeather is one......

    Os 6.0

If OS 6 doesnt really change the way we use our devices we will all end up leaving and I bet the only place we go will be Android.

I say this because we all love installing OS's every week, we pull batteries for fun, we enjoy testing new apps and then deleting them because they are rubbish, in all, we are Blackberry, and RIM better remember that.

The consumer has spoken in regard to Palm and thats now in trouble. If RIM make 15 million devices in 12 months but only sell 200,000 to corporate users they are gonna lose out, Big Time!

The consumer is RIM's new best friend and as such should be treated with respect. Thats why OS 6 and the new devices need to be good.

    Well thats my view anyway

    :haha::haha::haha:
I must agree with the above sentiments. In reality if Os 6 is anything like Os 5 was to the Storm world then RIM have really misread consumer needs.I too will sit by patiently and for the record; fourth quarter might see this released.

    Welcome to

According to RIM it is supposed to be released this year. Once it is released it will have to go to the carriers next and it will be up to them when it gets out to the public. We all know how fast some of the carriers are at releasing operating systems.

No OS is free of problems... 4.5/4.6/4.7/5.0 All had their issues. Unfortunatly thats how OS's work. lol Just look at microsoft. They are going down hill!

7 Sucks worst then Vista which is worst then XP....
XP is still the best, but it still has problem!

Never the less, I can not wait till I see:
"OS6 Has made it to the 9700!!!"

I have to jump in here -- I fix computers of all kinds, all operating systems and I owned a Mac for 5 years ---

    Windows 95 (OSR2) -- was great

    Windows 98 -- was great

    Windows ME -- A DISASTER

Windows 2000 --- Awsome and more reliabel than XP (lacked ease of acces to drivers)

Windows XP -- by SP3 it was solid --SP2 was a mess, idle process sucking 100% of CPU -- but Again, SP3 made XP very solid unless you didnt maintain your registry --- then it became bogged down

Windows Vista -- a mess, just like Windows ME -- Vista was overweight and had 2 many processes running even without ****ware installed -- allocated memory in the poorest fashion

Windows 7 -- VERY Very Solid & the 64-bit version is great! (unless you have an OEM version, 64 bit or 32 bit - especially on Dell Computers--Dell just destroyed the rep of Windows 7 by putting all of their JUNK on it -- My Uncle purchased a brand new inspirion and right out fo the box it ran like a fat kid -- opening the control panel would create a long and boring "not responding" then eventually Explorer would reset it self) In my opinion, if you have a CLEAN install of Windows 7, Home Professional and up, then it is better than XP, agian , in my opinion. Windows 7 has better "ease" of networking, its very sexy with bogging you down, unlike in Vista, allocates memory very well and is quick to boot up and quick to awake from sleep. As far as the new features like snap, aero peek, etc. -- bug deal, I mean they are nice but what would be much better is doing what a mac does when you hit "F9" - showing all windows you have open then being able to select which one you want --

I gotta talk about OS 6--- and yes I am throwing a temper tantrum ! what the heck, RIM said the BEGINING of the 3rd quarter OS 6 would arrive, well guess what RIM, its July, the begining of the 3rd quarter. The iphone 4 is out, Android 2.2 is here and wireless speed "N" has been enabled on the Nexus one -- WebOS an HP/Palm phone is actually great with a QUICK web kit browser --- -FLASH 10.1 for MOBILE has been released a week or 2 ago and us BB users who are more than deserving at this point WANT OUR BB OS 6!!!!!! Enough excuses already -- give me an OS where I dont use meterberry or a quick pull program to reboot (batter pull) my Storm 2 at least once a day -- Also, RIM sees its "consumer market" trends long before we do but yet we still have to most pitiful web browsing experience on a Smartphone in the world -- and its also time to make GOOD use of the 16gb memory card for APPS -- this would also enable older blackberries to have enough App memory to possibly run OS 6 --- and why not make use of the Internal memory (2gb on Storm 2) for the OS -- YEs, it can happen, yes its more work and code --- yes, we dont care--- Yes we deserve a blackberry that can display more than 65,000 colors -- I mean really? Sometimes being a BlackBerry user, it can be compared to (and not making light of this...) a mentally and physically abusive relationship....no matter how much we get beat down and cheated on, we just wont leave -- and RIM knows this ( their quarterly results prove it) -- RIM, its time to throw us a bone -- you obtained TORCH mobile -- ok, a seperate frggin company obtained just to design a WEBKIT browser which is their specialty and has probably been done for months -- Opera Mini has had tabbed browsing for how long now? Seriously RIM??? Its time to at least toss us the web kit browser with Flash, like right now -- you know, I could even wait for Flash until OS6 came out -- I mean give current users and potentially new users a TASTE of things to come instead of sitting on everything -- RIM, you are falling behind and thats the bottom line and if you think your business users are all you are going to need, then you have made a terrible mistake --- every younger generation is going to be wanting these types of products and software packages -- I mean look at iphone 4 and the new Face TIme -- is it knd of cool...yes -- is it something Id use much...no -- is it really cool and does it attract consumers.....YES! who cares if it requires wi-fi-- its all about politics with the masses of conumers -- who doesnt like shiny new toys that they dont need??? So in conclusion RIM -- I think you are arrogant, and cocky and you are slowly becoming a victim of your own success -- but I still love you -- its just time to give US END USERS SOME RESPECT --- and YES I am excited for BB OS 6 ---- but do I think it will be a revolution or a breakthrough?????? **** NO! The new OS looks pretty much the same but with more shine -- I mean you did redesign the Media Player (who cares, focus on what matters! New media player interface, gimmie a break, ha) ANd yes, we finally have pinch to zoom -- ok, Ill give you that -- personally, I dont care -- to me its much easier to use 1 finger to click the screen to zoom in (and thats just it, apple created pinch to zoom....now why? BECAUSE ITS COOL and it attracted people to their product duh! I am happy that scrolling will work better, kind of like a rubberband effect -- I mean it only took what? 2 years? ANd guys and gals, I know I sound bitter -- and its because I am -- I am on my 4th Storm 2 -- and i know for a FACT that BBOS6 will have the same BS bad habits so hold onto your apps like quick pull and meterberry for "battery pulls" and also, keep your pillows and blankets for the nap time otherwise known as the reboot process that takes a decade --- lets just hope none of this happens -- lets just hope that when the Storm 3 comes out, it can actually be a major player in the game by looking into the future with the hardware --- HDMI, front and back camera, high resolution screen that performs in direct sunlight and a processor that is ahead of its time because when I found out that RIM was so LAZY and CHEAP and put the SAME PROCESSOR IN THE STORM 2 THAT WAS IN THE STORM 1, I almost pooped my pants ---- so in short --- RIM, STEP YOUR GAME UP OR GET OUT!!!!!!!! still love ya though RIM hahah
