Help Please With GPS Issues on Tour 9630
I really hope someone here can help me resolve a GPS issue with my Alltel Tour. I have posted on Crackberry but haven't been able to get an answer that would get my GPS working. This all started when I tried to do an update along with a hybrid install.
I have an in issue with my Alltel 9630 Tour. After reading about upgrading to the leaked .419 OS I decided to give it a try. This was my first attempt at an update of any kind. One of the reasons I updated was having read that I would be able to get a GPS lock using Google Maps which I have never been able to do with my Tour. I tried to load Driphter's DV4 hybrid while I was doing the .419 update. I downloaded the .419 update and the DV4 java folder twice. Both times I loaded .419 on my laptop then deleted the java folder in loader files and replaced it with the DV4 java folder. Each time I tried to update my Tour I got an error message.
The application "English UK" cannot be loaded, because it requires the following applications that are not available:
I then replaced the original Java folder and the update went through perfectly. Any idea why I was not able to load DV4 with the update?
The problem I have now is that not only can I not get a GPS lock with Google Maps I can't get it with BlackBerry Maps either. My Tour has never had an issue getting a lock with BB Maps. Now it gives an "Unable To Acquire" error after only about six seconds, which seems a little quick to me. It would search longer than that before. And of course Google Maps still shows GPS as unavailable.
I would go back to my original OS but I made a mistake in thinking that a backup would save my OS. I now know that was not the case nor can I find a link to the official Alltel version.
If anyone can give my any advice on getting my GPS functional again with either BB or Google maps I would really appreciate it. Be it with .419 or the official Alltel version really doesn't matter at this point. Thanks.
When you installed this OS, if it wasnt an official Alltel OS, did you delete the vendor.xml file?
Yes, I'm pretty sure I did. I remember reading this was necessary in the guide I was following. The OS I installed was posted here in the leaked section.
If it were me, I would reload the OS again, just to make sure that everything loaded correctly..
Its worth a shot..
Should I wipe it first? If so, do I use the low level wipe on BBSAK? Thanks for taking the time to try and help me get this straight.
yes and all you have to do is plug in your phone open BBSAK and then click wipe. make sure you have all your info backed up

I wiped my phone with BBSAK. When I connect my phone to the laptop DM does not show a device connected and therefore does not attempt to update it. My phone has and error message on a white screen that says Reload Software 507. Where do I go from here? Please tell me there is a way to get an OS back on my phone. Thanks again for any help here.
Do me a favour and start RIMs app loader, and while already/still connected to the PC do a battery pull of your berry...
On Win7 it can be found here
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\Loader.exe
