    driphter3G icon patch

I wanted to share my 3G icon patch.

FOR NOW . . . this is only for VZW users and is good on all bb devices. Just download the rar and extract. Then add with bbsak. GOODBYE ugly 1xev HELLO 3G AWESOMENESS

Must be on a 5.0 os and or 5.0based hybrid.

    DOWNLOAD HERE

I would ask that if you benefit from this patch that you consider donating. This took HOURS to track down. Thanks in advance and enjoy the 3G icon!

You are on VZW and have done a re-boot after the install of this patch?

    Can you go to options>applications>options>modules>

verify that your net_rim_bb_ribbon_app is .421

If your device didn't reboot on it's own after bbsak installation than it didn't install correctly. you can also use the .442 version of this ribbon_app.

I have over 100 dl's of this patch and no negative feedback yet. Might just be a bad install. Here is the .442 version HERE

And I want to clarify . . . you are on VZW? I am still working on fixing this for gsm and other cdma carriers. I know that I am new here so here are two links to verify that this works perfectly every time

Sorry I got too excited and didnt see the part that said ONLY for VZN, even though it is clearly stated in the post. I am on a local CDMA provider that is offering EVDO and figured it might work. Obviously it didnt. I will anxiously wait for this to work with other carriers.

Cool. Thanks for updating us. Sorry if I seemed excited as well. I have been developing some cool stuff and it's hard to drop in on a new forum with this stuff. Not used to having no rep. lol. I don't like being the "new guy" . . . .

I am working on it. At the moment it has something to do with the ribbon app influencing the service books. vzw seems to be the only carrier that I can "influence" to get the 3G icon to appear. I am working on a solution that edits your service books, inserts the 3G service book entry, adds the appropriate ribbon, therefore giving you the 3G icon across all cariers. Problem is . . . . every time you reboot you lose the service book entry . . . . I am in the process of shopping an app builder to team up with me to offer you a 3G solution. I'm just no good with java programming. Anyone in here wanna join forces?

How about trying to get the 3G replace the EDGE. I'm on a gsm network that doesn't offer 3G. But I'd luv to see it anyways .

Anyone notice any memory leak after doing this? My memory has never fallen below 35 until after I did this yesterday. It's the only thing I've changed since the past month. I will delete the CoD & see if my memory still drops. Thanks for the hard work you had put in & it sure does look good on my BB. Btw, I'm running OOAK's .451 hybrid.

If u have a memory leak from adding try version 2. The 442 file may play nicer with the 451 files. U might try 3 30 second bp's first though. I find sometimes that's's all I need.

    driphter,

Nice find! Works perfectly on my S1. No mem leak so far, but will keep an eye on it & if it develops, will try version 2.

Thx for your dedication- I know you had been in search of this one for a LONG time!

Had to do a few battery pulls this morning. Didn't get a chance to uninstall the patch & it seems to be working fine now. No leaks so far. Thanks again.
