Waiting: Official release of 5.0 for 8900 curve!!!
ok so just over a week ago 188.8.131.521 was leaked for the 8900, which is great and all but for us lame at&t customers...we really want an official release...
so i guess what i was aiming for is to pass time while i sit and wait....and wait...and wait.........................
so feel free to post whatever you feel necessary below (and hopefully some good news will come soon... especially with how well .411 turned out)
ok so RIM stated (@ BlackBerry - Press Releases) that BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 is scheduled to be available later this year for existing devices... its running a little close, considering its 10 days from new years eve... :/
Well the problem will be that RIM will have them available but will the carriers release them. If RIM has released them to the carrier RIM has done what they said.
Ahhh...i (in the far back of my mind) knew that...just never took it into consideration in this instance...
hopefully the last leaked version will be the upcoming official!
but thanks for pointing that out
is there an "average" amount of time that it takes for the carrier (namely at&t in my case) to release the OS once it has been passed to them? a couple days? a week or so?? just wondering
It varies from carrier to carrier. Could even take up to a couple months on some.

Unplug your 8900. Now Download and install the new OS. Under Program Files>Common Files>Research In Motion>Apploader delete the file vendor.xml. After that plug in your 8900 and run the program loader.exe in the same directory. Easy breezy lemon peezy!
We are closing this thread due to there being official releases for this device now.
Please visit our download tab to find the Official OS's
