Thread: Bold 9700 Java on Bold 9000

I know this has been brought up before but can you put Java files from 9700 5.0 on 9000 5.0?

Yes you can but you need to know what you are doing otherwise you will brick your phone. This is something that the hybrid masters perfect and they do it a few files at a time. So I would just be careful but making too many modifications.

"brick" is thrown around too loosely IMO. Will a bad Java file render the device completely unusable and unrecoverable? or will it simply result in an error, not load any OS with a black screen but still able to be recovered via manual loader?

I was thinking about that too, one day when have alot of time on my hands I'm going to just try it out.

Yes the word brick is used often but it is possible to brick the device. However BB's are rather tough to actually render completely useless. But you could spend an awful lot of time trying to make it operational and some cannot. Therefore for the most part Brick is appropriate when stating caution. There have been time when it has taken me a better part of the day to make my BB useable as well as frying the usb and making it unuseable and having to replace. So if youre inclined to create Hybrids just becareful and if you actually brick your device it is more than likely it can be saved with patience.
