    April Fools Computer Virus

Make sure you update your computer with Microsoft. There is a virus that is suppose to launch at midnight for Aprils Fools. It is the Conflicker.C virus. But just like how everyone freaked out about the Y2K virus, nothing happened. ha but just to play it safe, you should still update your computer.

ya i heard about that. something on cbs news i think was talking about it....

The Conficker worm, sometimes called Downadup or Kido has managed to infect a large number of computers. Specifics are hard to come by, but some researchers estimate that millions of computers have been infected with this threat since January. The Conficker worm has created secure infrastructure for cybercrime. The worm allows its creators to remotely install software on infected machines. What will that software do? We don’t know. Most likely the worm will be used to create a botnet that will be rented out to criminals who want to send SPAM, steal IDs and direct users to online scams and phishing sites. The Downadup worm tries to take advantage of a problem with Windows (a vulnerability) called MS08-067 to quietly install itself. Users who automatically receive updates from Microsoft are already protected from this.
Experts from CyLab at Carnegie Mellon University said the Conficker computer worm is estimated to have already infiltrated millions of computers across the country. Tech experts said many of the infected machines are set to begin "phoning home" to the worm's creators over the Internet on April 1
