Everybody's favorite internet phone system may be shutting down. BBOS's own Forums
Manager Bryan, forwarded me a story ran by FoxNews.com about a court battle between
Ebay(who owns Skype) and Joltid(the original founders of the company). The dispute is over
software licensing agreements between the two companies. Joltid owns the rights to the
peer-to-peer technology, but Ebay is said to be working on alternative software. Ebay
said in a regulatory filing, that if their efforts were unsuccessful or if they lost the right to
technology "Skype would be severely and adversely affected and the continued operation
of Skype's business as currently conducted would likely not be possible." Stay tuned to this
one, the court date is set for June 2010.
