I played with the Palm for a little while and thought it was pretty cool actually. I would never buy it but it was great at multitasking, I liked the whole cards thing and web browsing was pretty nice. It did feel flimsy, the keyboard was awful and it's on Sprint's network (enough said).

I have also played with the Tour and while there is certainly nothing revolutionary about it, it's a very solid phone. The call quality is superb, the device is super responsive and the screen is very sharp. All in all, I found it to be a very solid device.

Nate, you know my thoughts about the Pre.

I bought one for my wife, because she didn't really want to go blackberry (what was she thinking?!?!?). The OS is not bad, however it is very simple. There is not much user control at all. The construction of the phone is my problem. It feels very cheap and flimsy. Worst of all, it does not receive every call. I have held it in my hand and tried to call it at least three times and it did not ring at all (the phone was in good service). Anyway, after about a week, we've decided to take it back. I've already ordered my Tour, and I'll be swapping my wife's with a Tour as well.

Has he played with a bb? Sometimes people are afraid of change, he might feel more comfortable with crappy phones. I didn't like it all, it reminded me of vzw's cheap NV line. Just be sure to make fun of him every time you see him and he will eventually change. Didn't you let him play with yours? (bb) keepin it clean here kids
He actually had the Instinct before he bought the Pre. I think most of the problem is that he wanted a touchscreen.

Why would anyone want the Pre?! IMO it's more of a little toy rather than a business phone. BB has a good flow in their phones with putting business and consumers together in a device.

I have converted many, many Treo owners to BB, lol. I have a buddy who just had to have a Pre. I think he is still in awe over the "cool" factor to admit that it doesnt really do alot. When ever I catch him griping about something, I call him on it, and he reverts back to dude, this thing is awesome, lol. Once the wow factor goes away, and he realizes what he has, he will wise up. Palm is Palm no matter how you box it. As the old saying goes, you can't polish a turd.

I'm still working on him. I make fun of his plastic toy every chance I get. He did buy his wife a curve last night though. So maybe he's coming around now.

There's hope for everyone. The Treo 700W made me become a Blackberry owner. I can't believe I actually bought another Palm device for my wife. Horrible mistake, but thank goodness for the 30 day return policy.
