Tennessee passed it's no-texting-while-driving law and it went into effect on July 1st. Officers will visually watch for people violating this law, pull them over, and issue them a $50 citation. The criteria that law enforcement is using is if the driver looks at their phone longer than the time it would take to dial a phone number or answer a call. Guess they should really call it no-doing-anything-on-your-phone-while-driving because if you're surfing the web, tweeting, facebooking, etc. you will appear to be in violation. I live in Kentucky but my primary office is in TN so I will definitely be affected by this law. I realize it's a good safety thing but I feel like my rights are being affected. Not sure if I agree with this or not... Any thoughts?
