Thread: Keep Storm or Get Tour?

I'm sorry I didn't know where to post this. If I could possibly trade my Storm for a Tour would it be a good idea? Is the tour a lot better than the Storm since it is new? What do you guys think?

This is like asking what my favorite color is... purely a matter of opinion. But for my $.02 I would say it comes down to touch screen vs. qwerty. The Tour is not better just different. Good luck

If you love the keyboard then you would probably like the tour a little better it is short on app memory though, now if you love touch screen and good app memory then stick with the storm

I would put my hands on one first before I made any conclusions.....
Me, I'm in for the long haul....Storm 2 is where it's at for me. I'll play with the Tour I'm sure...

what sucks is I just got my regular storm and I know there are not going to let me trade my storm for the storm 2 I should have waited! but then again wouldnt have gotten the buy one get one free from verizon

I'm pretty sure they will have another deal going on

I'm gunna go give the tour a test drive at my verizon store if they have one out yet, I'm mostly looking for browser speed and all around speed of the phone... odds r ill probly keep storm cause of app memory

I wouldn't be so sure about deals. I have called VZW about 20 times trying to switch up, and at one point told them I was switching to Sprint or AT&T, and they told me that if thats what I felt I had to do, then do it.

I dont know if your gonna see a big change in speed. The Tour is basically the guts of a Storm, with a physical keyboard.

The stores wont have the tour yet. And like Mule said. The tour is a Storm minus the touchscreen.:crying:

It would be different it the tour had wifi or something but def hanging on to my storm for now. Hopefully the S2 will be out around the time I'm up for an upgrade or else im gonna have to shell out some $$$$$

I've had a demo tour now for about a week. Speed is definitely increased over the storm (and I'm not even on the latest software that will be official). The app memory is less, but I'll tell you if you are looking for speed overall, the tour is definitely going to be the way to go. I just can't seem them getting the speed up on the storm with software updates to where it is at on the tour. Just my $0.02!

From all accounts the memory is increased in the new builds.

This device is still at a better starting point then the storm.

Little late to the party on this topic, but forgive trying to get to 10 posts and trying to keep them somewhat valid.

The Tour does have twice the flash memory (256) of the storm (only 128) So the Tour should definitely be way faster. The storm does feature the 1GB onboard memory, but I'm not too sure what that is used for yet as I've only had my storm about a week. (exclusively app memory, pic/vid/mp3 storage...??)

Welcome to BBOS! The 1gig onboard memory just gives you more storage for things like pictures, videos to be stored on the device as opposed to a memory card. But since most people store those on a memory card it's hard an advantage IMO. It's the flash memory that really matters the most.

Thanks! That's what I thought, just haven't done research on it yet. I don't really get why they separated that much memory in a phone that shipped with an 8GB memory card... But hey, I'm no engineer so I'm sure they had their reasons.

So far I love this site and the abundant Storm love that it has!

Makes zero sense at all IMO. The only point is that you cannot load 3rd party apps from a memory card (well, without 3rd party software). However, the Storm's 1gig on-board memory is not allocated to storing app space. So why they even had that is very strange.

yeah I don't get it either. What makes even less sense to me is why RIM makes essentially 3 new curves... 8900, 8520(going backwards here), and the tour

I know they're all different in their own rights but they are all 3 about the same size and specs. Should have just had a universal design across all carriers like the 83xx. completely off topic and just one of my random opinions
