Can't wait to see this myself :) I can remember standing in a line wrapped around the movie theater to see the Search for Spock LOL. And no I wasn't dressed up in a custom Laney so don't even do there :damnit1:
Vader,
Which one did you not agree with? Without giving it all away I liked the story line and the romantic twist which I hope ended with this first one. Made me want to see the next one right NOW!!!! Thought it would be a blast if they made the next two to release in the same year and take the nation by storm. What a chance and risk to take but I believe worth it if they came out with two in one year. The franchise would then be locked in for years to come.....
Chekov. They cam VERY close with everyone else, and did a f:censored:g KILLER job with McCoy and with Spock. Especially McCoy.
And did anyone know the neat little trivia about Ohura in this movie?
Vader,
I hear you, I found it difficult to understand him at first but that may go away as he becomes older and gets more lines through the future releases. I thought and agree with all the press so far that Spock is right on. But as he aged he got just a little shorter. ;-) McCoy is right on also and a bit older as would justify his profession. But a very good interaction of the roles as he and Kirk meet. Not a slow spot in the film and as I said I could have watched the next installment NOW. My only regret is that I did not see it first on IMAX as the one close to me was sold out. I also like what they did with Pike and how it was not a full departure from he original if you notice in the end sceens of him. But it all ties together...very well done in my opinion.
My complaint wasn't so much about his accent, the original Chekov could get hard to understand from time to time, and his accent was what made the character comical. My issue was his appearance. They worked so hard to make the others LOOK so close to the original, and they just fell so short on him. Almost like he was an after thought. Other than that, the movie was just awe inspiring. In 2 weeks, I have seen Wolverine, Star Trek (will see it a 2nd time tonight. Taking my Dad) and am so excited about Trans 2 and GI Joe that I have no idea how I am gonna stand it.
I can't wait to go to Dragon CON this year and get to meet Leonard Nimoy.
took my parents yesterday, who are huge star trek fans (our dog was named trekker, nuff said) and got me into it when i was but a wee lad, although i mainly grew up on next generation. the movie was great, and i thought all the characters were really well done, especially the little nuances, which are what make the characters. Everything about this movie was well done: music (sometimes a little more epic than necessary, but hey, it's star trek) and cinematography were awesome and fit the storyline well. The romance plot was a little strange but i kind of understand where they were going with it.
one thing i thought was odd was that (trying to not give anything away) what nero did to pike to get information was never resolved. they just kind of ignored it. i'm sure the scene was cut for time or something, but it was a little weird.
i didn't want the movie to end and i can't wait for the next one. definitely going to have to see this again.
skeletallightning,
Two things come to mind regarding Pike.
1. They introduce him and do follow up but the only reference to the series is in name only and how he ends up sitting. It also lets us know how he and Spock become to be which also comes from the series.
2. They bring in a little part of Rath of Kahn if you recognize it. This reference will answer your question.
KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, had to go there...lol
I have to agree with the Kahn/Pike link. Any ideas when the next is going to be out? I have heard they have green lighted Wolverine 2 and Deadpool X-Men
Dude, I was dressed as Darth Vader for Ep 2 AND Ep 3 release of Star Wars....lol
I will admit I am a GEEK!!!
My costumes list is la few.....lol
Complete Darth Vader from scratch
Punisher
V for Vendetta
Stargate SG-1
(3) R2D2 units
Anna from Van Helsing (for my wife)
my wife's various vampyr outfits
Michell Chang from tekken 3 (my wife's)
I am sure I am missing some.
We tried. Had issues with the hair. And We have tossed the idea of the bikini from Ep 6, but it gets so overdone at Dragon CON that we decided to skip it.
i was too young for the wrath of khan (read "not born yet"), and i saw it when i was little, so i don't really remember much. i'll have to go back and watch it again :)
about pike, i get the part about the series and it makes sense that he ends up sitting, but what i meant about them not following up was (spoiler alert) <EDIT: i had to cut it out because i don't know how to make text teeny tiny so that you can only read it if you want to. i'll fix this when i figure it out (size 1 on here is still way too big for some reason)>
Check out the "RoK" and I think it will become clear to you as to why they may not have spent much time following up on how any information may have been had. Once you go Seti(sp) Alpha Five, Six, or Seven you never go back. Don't want to say much more than that without giving it away. "RoK" was to me the best of the older players in Star Trek because it referenced an earlier episode and fit so well with the original story line and characters. The best Star Trek villain to date...........and see how he ended up and having all that superior intellect. :147:
LOL,
He tasks me..........Kirk my old friend........
The next release can't be sooooon enough for me and of course others after they see this movie. I also liked the way they justified two beings in the same space and time......for the good of the.....civilization. Gearing up for Warp Drive never looked or sounded so good. All in all there is not a bad thing you can say about this movie.
