BlackBerry vs IPhone

In my previous post about letting BlackberryOS move ownership over to Joe, I mentioned that the reason was because I lost the love for Blackberry. The other day I was sitting at my desk just playing around with the Tour when I kept getting the same errors I have been getting for quite some time now. That's when I really lost my love for BlackBerry and was bored of my Tour. I made the decision to give the I-phone a shot (I still use my Tour as well). Keep in mind the only smartphones I have ever owned were BlackBerry devices. So after using the iphone and coming frmo a BB...The iphone made me have that feeling of loving my cellphone again. I can not put the iphone down. It's everything BlackBerry is not. The only issue I have with the IP is lack of multitasking. After handling the IP and then picking up the Tour to BBM or text some one on there, the Tour feels like a cheap, plastic device and def does not feel like a well built solid device like the IP. I used to bash the IP but, I honestly have to say I wish I gave IPhone a chance before hand. At the same time, if I did not, BlackberryOS would not be around. I will also be getting the Incredible June 22nd when verizon can fill their stock.

Well, you just get around. :p

One thing I'm hoping for the Blackberry market is a great multitasking/App playable combination.

I must admit Brett, if RIM dont pull the goods out of the hat this year with either the Slider or Storm 3, I am going Android.

I really like the EVO and would love that device but I like the security of the BB devices.
I also like the way you can make it your own. Now Im getting into the hybrid making market (for myself just now) I really love what I can do to it.

I have a PC at home but the wife wants a MAC.
I have just got an iPad for her until the MAC arrives cos I sold her laptop and I can see why people like the things.
It is a great device and makes me want to try the iPhone out but... BUT... I do like my BB and my PC... maybe I am just set in my ways?

Time will tell.

I am tied to VZW and I have had great service over the 10 years I have been with them, I really do not have a reason to switch. My NE2 is up 8/1 and unless the slider or S3 is available at VZW, I will purchase an Incredible. We only have Macs in our house, but I run Windows just for my BB theme building and hybrids. My wife is considering entering the smartphone world and really wants an iPhone which is a natural choice when you are a Mac-user. Will she wait to see if VZW gets it? I am really not sure. She is not as particular about a phone as I/we are.

I use Google for so much, so the Incredible is a natural fit and I am not tied to the native mac-apps, like some are. I prefer Google calendar to iCal. I will need my socks knocked off to change my mind.....

HAHA. I am still going to Android, I'm waiting for Verizon to get more of the Incredible in stock. I didn't want to get the 9700, I was getting bored with how you could pretty much do nothing on them now. It's the same device as everything else just more memory and a track pad. I hate to admit it but I love the i-phone. I've been playing games on it all day, e-mails come in just as quick on the BB. Only downfall I have is I can not multi task but...I enjoy it still.

yep, i cant recall what you need to get from cydia to accomplish it but i sure can find out if you need it

Brett, you will be amazed at what that phone can do once you jailbreak it.

BUT once you have done so, you can't update it on the network again because it seals the jail break and you lose all the "apps" you didn't pay for lol

Blackberry and Android are the best on the market.
BB for security and Android for power, adaptability, amount of apps available

the iPhone is good, but its gonna get eaten by the EVO 4G.... (and hopefully the Storm 3 and Slider)

IMHO

I have had a 9700 and 9630 a 9550 and tons of other blackberries. A 9700 is no differentthan a 9630 except for wifi and UMA. As long as the OS is the same BB will not attract the consumer market. I have aDroid I play with on the side and it blows every blackberry away except for the push on BB. Im a primary BB user, but they better get on the ball. All they have to offer right now is push.

Sad to monitor this commentary now that BBOS is under new management and ownership. I am waiting for something good to come from VZW regarding the S2 9550 series but not for the Hybrids would I be on the verge of dropping this phone altogether. I have toooooo much invested in it (and other BB phones) to give it up right now. But something has to happen fast if not just a word saying hang in there because the best is yet to come.... hmmm wishfulllllllll thinking..?

There are a thousand videos on youtube on how to jailbreak. It's very easy and really unleashed the power of what an iphone can truly do. If the iPhone was on VZW, I would never touch a BB again. Sad but true.

if you want to just jailbreak use spirit if you want to jailbreak and unlock use redsnow ahhh and no i dont use that ithing or android device, instead a blackberry with the latest os available for it

You can just download blackra1n in rock to unlock it. Cydia is horrible IMO. If u unlock it I would suggest using rock.

My girlfriend has an IPhone and I have to agree its a cool toy, and its just that a toy, the BB seems to me to still be about business and a bit of fun tossed in. I always have to keep reminding her that its a phone too! Now she's onto wanting an ipad, which I have to admit is actually a cool toy! I just wish BB would do more over all, and from what I've seen with the slider, maybe there's some potential, I hope so, because I do still love my BB (yes the crappy 8330) but is still love it. And thanks to BBOS I've learned tons about it and keep it as upto date as I can, just to keep up. I'm not saying I will never goto Iphone (the new OS and phone is pending right?) , I'm just saying I'm still holding out hope for RIM to do something cool.

get to go with Blackberry yet did not get the chance for the iPhone.

The iPhone will most likely hit Verizon this fall.
