First, you should start with something smart, like gatorade. You're going to get dehydrated if you drink only alcoholic beverages. Please make sure you DO NOT DRIVE!!!!! Your 21st b-day should not be your last.
There is nothing "wimpy" or weak about following each drink with water, it will help you more than you know.
There are no written in stone rules that say you have to get wasted, keep that in mind.
The 20th is a Saturday, so my suggestion is to find a club or other such place that has a good band playing, this way, there is more to d than sit and drink. (this will be less expensive, also).
If you do get too much to drink, don't be afraid to call the rest of the night off, alcohol poisoning is not pretty.
BTW, my favorite drink is Sailor Jerry rum with orange juice, Tastes kinda like a creamsicle...
Sorry if I sound like I'm lecturing you, I have 7 stepchildren, most over 21, and I couldn't imagine losing any of them.
I am also a licensed Bartender, (I do wedding receptions and such in my spare time) so I know a lot of this stuff is important.
Also, you don't have to get drunk to have fun, sometimes its fun to hang out and "drunk watch" so you know how not to act...

My 21st birthday ended with a homeless gentlemen singing Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On to me while it talked like a Scottish pirate to friends and strangers.
So, ya. Prepare for anything. :1244:
As far as drinks...
The other night, the waitress recommended a Jager Bomb. It was like eating an entire bag of Jolly Ranchers. Stay away from that--sorry Natemz. Also, Red Bull and vodka makes you think you're more sober than you really are.
I once had a girlfriend order an Oatmeal Cookie. I took a sip. It was delicious. Try that one.
Listen to Bugly. Drinking water between each drink is awesome advice. (It's what I do now.) You'll still have loads of fun. And, Gatorade is the perfect hang over cure if you don't follow the water rule.
