Thread: DVDs and CDs...Am I crazy?

I did some spring cleaning and threw away all the cases to my DVD movies, storing the discs only (in a notebook). I also threw away all the CDs I had remaining in my old collection, transferring what's left onto my computer. My friends think I'm nuts. And, now I'm starting to second guess myself.

Anyone else here still keep DVDs and their shell cases? It seems like more than we need nowadays. (Not like we can sell them anymore; anyone remember Warehouse buyback?)

P.S. I found out that the deeper you dig into an old CD collection, the more you want to kickpunch the old you. ...I mean, the crap that I found. I actually paid money for it.:buttkick:

I agree with you to a point, but what if where your storing them digitally (music I mean) crashes. Then your SOL right. As far as the cases for DVDs...yeah who needs em.

Make a backup! External hard drives are mad cheap these days. I have my entire movie/music collection on my PC and backup up on External hard drive.

For 2 reasons.
1) Back up copies
2) I can play a movie or music off external hard drive vis USB cord on anyone PC/laptop. When I fly I just stick hard drive in my laptop case and watch movies in airport and on plane!!!! Boyyah!

I don't have any CDs anymore, I keep everything digitally. I have all my music stored on my PC and a backup on an external drive. I also have all the music on my iPod so if for some reason both the PC and external drive break at the same time I can still get it off the iPod.

I have one. Don't use it. (Kind of like my treadmill.) I'll get off my butt and do it this weekend. Now the question is: Do I need a backup backup?

No, one back-up is good enough.

Some people may answer yes, and I would say they are paranoid. They probably keep the Back-up of the back-up in a fireproof safe!
