I have been good so far... I haven't smoked in the new year, so it's been 4 days and counting. I do have to say that sometimes I just want to jump off the walls :1244::aargh4: but so far so good. The cravings come every once in a while and last night I even dreamt that I picked a cigarette up but it was just a dream.:irked:
The secret for me is to quit on a long weekend or vacation. The first two days after the last cigarette are terrible for me as I crave for it but after that it get easier and the cravings just gradually go away.
I just returned to work and that is usually the time when I smoke the most but I'm holding on to my guns.

Hope you guys and gals that are trying or are going to try to quit smoking can make it.

Okay all smokers, I usually don't preach, but it is that time of year, so I am getting on my soapbox! My mother was a 2 time breast cancer survivor with 15 years between the 1st and 2nd and she smoked through 6 mos of chemo treatments! She was one tough cookie, I used to fuss at her for smoking, but figured if she went through all the hell of those treatments and still wanted to light up more power to her. She had COPD and emphysema, she was diagnosed 6 years later with lung cancer and it was terrible watching her suffer at the end. So I pray for all of you to have the strength to beat this horrible addiction so you and your family don't have to deal with the effects that could happen. I watched her cough every morning for many years as a teenager and decided never to light up! I have been overweight my whole life and since losing her I found the strength to battle the bulge since last spring. When I hit a plateau and get frustrated, I think of her and how she fought for many years and think of my young kids and realize the fight is for me but also for them!

So when you get the urge to light up, go hug your kids (spouse or significant other for the young BBOS members) if they are nearby or if not, give them a call, they can be the best encouragement in the world! (And yes drive you crazy at the same time)

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone here has given me since joining in March, we are also a different type of family and are here for each other! If anyone needs a lift in a down moment, PM me and I will be happy to send some positive words your way! :grouphug: :You_Rock_Emoticon:
