It is not RIM (BlackBerry) who is doing this, its
Cellebrite who provide forensics for Law Enforcement Officers. They have been able to have full access to all other devices local or remote including computers and mobile phones. And now it is announced that they are able to do the same on the Blackberry (by the article; it seems they need to have the Blackberry in hand not remotely as other devices as our device are encrypted from point to point)This actually a good thing. Maybe some of the white collar criminals would be further prosecuted in the event they get caught.

What this basically is like you do a crime, the cops show up (with a warrant) and search your home. If you done nothing wrong, there will be nothing criminal issues to worry about.
