i think that finally creating standard screen sizes and resolutions is a step in the right direction especailly for app developers. if the screen is similiar in shape to the 9900 and 9700 bolds then i like the square look obviously we need a bit of a bigger screen though.
**i also find that in my opinion pictures look better with a square screen when compared to other phones and touch devices. i find it is easier to place an object in the middle of the screen as a focal point of the picture.... anyone agree?

The key is more about aspect ratios rather than resolution.
As long as RIM keeps to these ratios now, then we shouldn't have any problems.
I guess this means that the 10" PlayBook pictures floating around WON'T happen. Well, unless it's a square - now THAT would definitely be something different!
I agree with you but the resolution is also important because us "end users" don't wanna look at a low quality/resolution aspect ratio is definitly more important for devs. I would love a square 10 inch playbook way more than arectangular one! Haha its always nice to see RIM taking a different path than the rest of the companies also. The 10inch playbook will come I guess we will have to wait and see exactly what it looks like for sure I think its very smart their letting bb10 out months before tho it'll really allow the app world to grow in new apps before the new version of playbook comes out!

Yes, ratios is what will help get devs more interested. So that they don't have to scale and tweak to so many devices. It's too much work for not enough payout to many devs.
