That's expensive. All 3 have the Galaxy Tab for $649 outright and Bell and Rogers both have it on for $199 on a 3 year term.

    Exclamation Are they locked?

My question is, Will they be locked to thecarrier? I will only be intrested if I can use the SIM card of a carrier inthe country in wich I am traveling. Last year Rogers hit me with a $1,200 phonebill when I traveled for 3 weeks in Holland. that was the most expensive eMailsthat I ever sent. They have some realy creative accounting when you traveloutside of the country.

You can pretty much guarantee they will be locked if you go with the subsidized price.

I hope that the price drops soon after launch. Would rather see more sales and less profits then a bust.

I don't understand why they would price themselves out of the running right out of the gate. Compared to the other tablet manufacturers, RIM's market share doesn't even register and this bloated price isn't going to help matters.

I think the initial starting price is high because the only people who would absolutely need a 4G PlayBook are business or government organizations for which costs is not as big of an issue. I think everyone who would want a PlayBook by now for the most part would have picked one up and probably for the majority of consumers using BlackBerry Bridge to get internet connection is sufficient for their needs. I for one wont be needing this as I will saving up for the potential 10" PlayBook if it is available =). But lets' see!
