I agree with the general idea of this prediction, which is that windows phone is about to take off in a much bigger way than it has so far, and that blackberry is still doing its swan dive into oblivion after years of dinking around when it should have been taking a hard look at itself and changing its products. (I'm amazed the company has the nerve to put out "Orlando," which has the same form factor as curves did 8 or 9 years ago.)
I had 3 or 4 blackberrys over a four year period and considered myself a blackberry expert, working on them, doing some hacking. My new dell venue pro is amazing. a four inch amoled screen and a slide out keyboard that's better than a BB's. and the windows phone 7 OS is beautiful (I love reading email again). the code is brilliant in its simplicity and power, and this is what more and more app developers are finally discovering after the product was almost universally beat down by bloggers. now, the number of apps has grown at a faster pace than ios or android. number of apps is a big part of success for any platform. behind it is the company that has 90+ of the computer OS market, Office and xbox, and is pushing desktop to phone integration. these are reasons the platform will grow faster than it has so far.
when people see my dell venue pro they want to pick it up. a few clicks and they want to buy it. especially people who have never used a smart phone.
Microsoft re-invented its mobile OS, so I guess RIM can too. the playbook looks great, especially compared to the ipad. but I've been amazed, after the lesson that was Palm, that RIM still does things the way it does. I used to live and breathe blackberry. I wouldnt recommend a blackberry to anyone I liked.
a windows phone will never be in my hands i had a Q that broke me ever wanting to waste money on any kind of windows phone again .... bb for life :hail:
