Lou, I'm glad you brought up Deadpod. About a month ago I happened to see on THIS site an app for a podcast download. I downloaded it, subscribed to Deadpod, but it won't play on my Blackberry. It gives me an error message with some number (I forgot what the number was) Am I doing something wrong? Currently listening to 6/10/76 Row Jimmy.

Hmm. I do not know. What podcast app are you using? Can you replicate and pass on the error message? I do not listen to podcasts on my Storm. I get my Deadpod subscription via iTunes on my PCs and iPod. You may want to post the question in the fixes and Findings thread for your current OS in the Storm forum and in the Software forum (always feel free to create a new thread as well specific to your app).

Another good one is Rob Cork's Music. I have on Paris 5/4/72 (set 2) right now. Just a solid Pig-era set (or part thereof--he had to break it up to keep the Dark Stars on the same pod).

    Good Lovin
    Next Time You See Me
    Ramble on Rose
    Jack Straw
    Dark Star
    Drums
    Dark Star

Star-Drums-Star--all I can say is WOW.

    ----------------
Now playing: Grateful Dead - Olympia Theater, Paris, France 05-04-72 Set 2, Part 1
    via FoxyTunes

Lou, Wow.....Whoaa! That was an incredible Star. 40 minutes well spent. I put on the headphones for that one. Nice n trippy, spacy. I'm gonna check out the Good Lovin now. There was no way I could focus to post listening to that masterpiece. On an aside the error number was 403. And the app was called ultra podcast. In the interim to satisfy my cravings I purchased one of those 16 GB micro cards and I have as of now 71 shows on my Blackberry with 1.6 GB's left. Oh, listening to 5/4/72 Good Lovin. Just started....vocals are a bit low but nice "ow's"

    Definitely some excellent grooooovage!

Are you sure you are getting 403 and not 413? Here is what I found on Ultra Podcast (FAQ page):

Q: What does error 413 mean?
A: The blackberry server has a limit as to the size of the file that it can download at one time (5 meg I think) so if you're trying to open a complicated web page with embedded flash object or something else which is larger than the size limit, you'll get a 413 error.

Deadpod shows have mondo data, so that might explain something.

Also, Ultra Podcast has a forum. You might be able to obtain some relief from there. http://www.ultrapodcastplayer.com/forum/

If you are getting a 403 error and it relates to http, this would be an access forbidden code relating to a non-responsive server, so the subscription ot the app or some techie thing along teh Interwebz may not be behaving properly.

Back to more important things! This week's Deadpod was a treat (just listened to it at the office today):

    March 23, 1972
Academy of Music, New York, New York

    (end of set 2)
    Two Souls In Communion
    Mexicali Blues
    Dark Star
    Big Boss Man
    Not Fade Away ->
Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad ->
    Not Fade Away

The only minus was the Sugar Mag encore was missing, but still awesome. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Not Fade - > GDTRFB - > Not Fade!

Peace in the Mideast! Feel free to hit me up on BBM anytime.

I too enjoy a nice NFA-GDTRFB-NFA sandwich. Also if you can access 2 days later Donna joins the band. And there is even another interesting treat. Bo Diddley plays the entire first set with the boy's and girl. Oh, almost forgot, still feelin it from that 40 minute Star. It was 413 on ultra and 403 from the Deadpod site itself. As far as BBM, I never done that before so I haven't a clue how to do that?

Great notes on Bo Diddley! I will have to chase that down sometime.

I am guessing that the 413 error means the files are too large and the 403 error is the Deadpod server becoming non-responsive as a result. You may want to download directly to PC and then just move to the media card.

You can get BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) v.4.7 via desktop manager (if it is not already on your phone). Or you can get v.5.0 if you wanna be all fancy. I will see if 5.0 links are still up on other sites.
