Yeah that would make sense but as Jerry said in his book An American Life the were never any conflicts between JGB and The Grateful Dead...The Grateful Dead always takes priority. Than again we are talking about Furthur and not the GD but still. I'm still recovering from this weekend. After we got home from Jerry Daze fest watched the Olympic soccer played on ice with sticks, I think its called hockey (not that popular down here in Fla) but wow what an exciting game. I don't know all the rules of the sport but we beat Canada last week, they beat is yesterday, is game 3 to decide it all on tonight?

That implies sanity in some form... We will have none of that around here... We revel in sanctity...

Nah. Can-uh-duh won the Gold on Sunday. Our win was in the qualifying round. The top qualifiers then moved on to a single-elimination tournament. Given Can-uh-duh's dominance (best hockey country and best national hockey team in the world), our boys did well to earn the Silver. And there is no shame in giving up the game-winner in overtime to the most talented player of this generation (Crosby).

Watkins I agree, that was insane like that 8/24/70 Dark Star or how bout the reprise coming back in on The Other One on that 7/16/72 show that Lou posted. That's 4 minutes of the most insane GD music I have ever heard. I love especially how Jerry n Phil are doing their own thing than just blend together. It is so so tight. Also I liked all those notes after those shows Lou, nice n detailed. Good stuff. Yeah Mrs is telling me to ditch some of my maxells after listening to your stuff on the BlackBerry. Little to no hiss. Also just my 2 cents I got one of those Altec Lansing speakers that plugs into my phone a while back, incredible sound and reasonably priced. And it even has a rechargeable battery so you can take it to the beach or wherever. I highly recommend it. Please keep posting them insane shows.

Glad you like the shows! I hope Linda is enjoying the acoustic Dead, too. And send me the Maxells before you ditch 'em--I'll pay for postage!

I must commend you on your The Other One recommendation from 7/16/72. I was listening to it Saturday night, and I was completely submerged within them music. It was akin to a Grayfolded experience. You were right about Phil's bass: it just reaches out and grabs you.

Sorry for the delay, Skulls and Roses. I was traveling this morning.

FWIW, the Winterland '73 and '77 collections are some of the finest Grateful Dead recordings I have ever heard (especially if you are a HUGE Keith/Donna-era fan). I am guessing that this show will be choice as well.

This week's Deadpod features a wonderful show that happened on this date 38 years ago.. March 5, 1975 at Winterland in San Francisco CA. While there are a few tape splices on this overall I think while this is not a pristine recording that's its quite listenable and the band is in fine fine form. Keith is new to the lineup and a great addition at this point (and listen for Wavy Gravy at the start of China Cat).. and of course its great to listen to Pigpen as well..

We'll play the second set next week........

    Grateful Dead - March 5, 1972
    Winterland - San Francisco, CA

    Bertha
    Black Throated Wind
    Mr. Charlie
    Sugaree
    Greatest Story Ever Told
    Next Time You See Me
    Tennessee Jed
    Jack Straw
    China Cat Sunflower ->
    I Know You Rider
    Mexicali Blues
    You Win Again
    El Paso
    Casey Jones

You can listen to this week's Deadpod here:

As always my most sincere thanks for your support.. be well my friends!
