    It's all good, as the kids say these days. You may enjoy this article: Marijuana Use By Seniors Goes Up As Boomers Age.

    I will try and put up that 7-16-72 show up before Friday. Also, I will poke around for some acoustic shows for Linda.

    Be well!

    We appreciate the beams Lou. Your name has been mentioned in the home many a time. Especially on Friday's when I play your Dead show you post. She will comment something to the effect of "hope its acoustic this week" She's more into the Workingmans Dead and American Beauty era. She loved the string of acoustic shows they played in the early 80's and the first set stuff from 69-70 where it was just Jerry and Bob. Monkey and the Engineer etc. Also as I was writing my last response I forgot where I was. I guess as I was writing I thought I switched to BBM so I hope that 1 sentence was ok for this site.

    How true with that article. Well I should say with the title of the article. When I clicked on "read the entire story" button it just reloads to only the first paragraph. I will fool around and search for it. Yeah I set up the new BBM, I figured out the pictures and everything. I will send you a BBM this evening just in case your busy at work. I won't even have to wrote a word. When you see my picture you will know its from me. Yeah on that 7/16/72 show I listened to it over and over the other day. I liked the "groove" of it. Can't think of another word to describe it. For example Me and My Uncle has a "kinda different" neat groove to it. Bob even changes the words around.

    Excellent excellent idea with Furthur to change it up. Can't wait to listen to this. Gosh I love that bus. For the love of God please pull that thing out of the woods and put it in its rightful resting place The Smithsonian for the world to enjoy. What surprises me with the lineup I'm surprised Bill or Mickey or better yet both aren't playing drums. Also for those in the central Florida east coast area...great news...Jerry Fest will be at the Clarion in Merritt Island tomorrow. Myself and Mrs will be there. Got a room booked n all (gotta feeling wouldn't be able to drive out of there anyway. So if your in the area, grab he family. It will be a Grate day. Oh ickets are only $10 bucks. And proceeds go to a good cause. If you want to say hello I will be wearing a Jerry Garcia hoody. Its gonna be a bit chilly tomorrow

    This shn set is an edit of a previous shn set made by Tim OConnell mtmoc@home.com, who patched in the aud portions and edited out tape squeal. Sound Forge was then used to edit for a new shn set, with pitch corrections for the aud portions, normalization for the entire recording, and retracking for four discs, as well as other minor edits.

    Notes:
    --the audience portion is somewhat degraded, though pretty listenable
    --nearly every track provided by the audience recording has the first few notes clipped due to taper conservation, though all such cuts are minor
    --reel glitches @ 3:49, 4:12, & 4:56 in Cumberland
    --minor splice @ 12:33 in Truckin'
    --mix/equipment problems during Sugar Magnolia

    8. Little Sadie
    9. I've Been All Around This World
    10. Katie Mae
    11. Cumberland Blues

    Phil's amp fails, forcing an unscheduled acoustic set to close the show with. Jerry plays electric guitar for some of the acoustic set. This is also the day that the Dead were busted by the New Orleans police before the show, prompting some appropriate stage banter. The recording was normalized with Sound Forge, which was also used to remove a few small pops.

    Here is part two of the beams for Linda. When she recovers from Jerry Fest....

    08 01:59 Jam //
    09 05:16 // It's A Man's World

    * This seed is an upgrade over all circulating copies. The reel tape was
    carefully transferred by Gerhard Schinzel, reducing the speed problems
    that marred previous copies. Gerhard has had a 1st generation copy
    off Richard Wethey's master recording since 1976.
    * The first seconds of Dire Wolf and Dark Star are cut.
    * The d2t8 jam cuts off.
    * About 2 minutes are missing from the beginning of Man's World.

    The following are details of the tape speed correction that was performed digitally.
    The numbers express the amount of semitones the source tape ran too fast:
    * acoustic set: constant 0.4
    * Gradual speed-up from 0.4 to 0.6 during Easy Wind & Cumberland,
    * Dire Wolf: 0.6
    * Dark Star: 0.5; almost constant
    * Man's World: varying between 0.4 to 0.5

    The attribution of the 4/24/70 date to this tape is debatable. Richard's notes
    accompanying Gerhard's reel copy do not mention any specific day; the only information given is "Mammoth Gardens Denver 1970", which leaves the choice between 4/24 and 4/25.
    There is a newspaper article reviewing the second show; this article is transcribed at newspaper article on 4-24+25-70 . The fact
    that Man's World appears on this tape points to 4/25.
    Uli Teute writes on Deadlists, "I don't know how the 24th got attributed to what richard taped, but if he taped the 24. and the newspaper article is correct that would make 3 Dark Stars in a row (the 26th also has a Dark Star) - very unlikely - plus the article matches our tape just perfect. maybe we have the 25th. and do not know a bit about 4-24".

    Jerry,

    I was thinking of your comment on the percussion. I cannot speak for Mickey, but I believe (from Grateful Dead Radio on Sirius/XM back in December) that Bill was playing New Year's Eve and Day shows with his own ensemble in Hawai'i.
