If you haven't already, be sure you have uninstalled your current OS from your PC. It is advised that you do not run 2 OS's at the same time. You will need to open and the look in Control Panel. Then select add/remove programs. You will want to remove the older OS if it is installed.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site, got a BlackBerry Pearl 8120, had it since May, love it,love the way get my emails, facebook and twitter to my phone.
Is there anyone one here on a Pearl 8120 that they have updated to the the new BBM V 5.0? Does it work? I heard horror story"s that it crashes your phone
Would be much appreciated if someone could help me

This is for a carrier overseas. Make sure to click the Pearl 8120 for that software here. Also make sure you go to C:/Program Files ((x86) if there is the option)/Common Files/Research In Motion/App Loader and in the App Loader folder, scroll to the bottom and delete "Vendor .xml" file and your good to go
I have got that far, now when I come to install new OS its saying "No software update is required for your device"
Any suggestions?
What version of DM are you using? Newer versions sometimes check for a secret vendor file on RIM's server. You can easily get by it if you disconnect from the internet while updating.

Search you whole computer including hidden folders for any "vendor" files and they are .xml type of file. they need to be deleted

I have done this, but it does not find .161 when offline, go online its there in the DM, how infuriating!

Are you sure you got rid of the vendor.xml file? Have you done a search of your computer as Stiefler suggested?

Well let me ask you something... What OS's do you have installed on your computer? You were trying to upgrade the OS right? If you are having problems with that, you most likely are going to have an issue with downgrading BBM.
