Having beta tested their WinMo & BB sync software I highly recommend staying away from Mark/Space.

They focus too much on spreading code among several products and none completely focused specifically for the BlackBerry. In fact their resolve to problems is to cripple your BlackBerry rather than update their software. In addition to that, the information posted as a "fix" is often wrong.

Again, I'd stay away from Mark/Space!

Which program would you recommend. I can't tell you how many crappy sync programs I have gone through incuding RIM's own pocket sync.

Wait for RIM actually. The Missing Sync works but not consistently nor well with newer devices. You can read all of their BlackBerry issues in their support forums. The trouble is not worth the $50. Often messing up your calendar & confusing sync errors.

I don't use Google but I've heard Bryan mention Google Sync a lot when he had his Storm.

I used missing sync for a while but it does not work with the Tour nor does it recognize the Storm running OS 5.0

Google sync for me has always been a real mess. When you sync iCal up to Google then to your phone all hell breaks loose. Such as duplicate entries, all day events get screwed up and so on and so forth. At least Apple has the decency of releasing apps that work well with windows. Were Rim just screwed apple users altogether.

Yes, calendars are a BIG issue. I only use one so I delete all of the CICAL Service Book entries to use the device default. For me this is fine but not others. The Missing Sync will not do reocuring (sp?) January calendar entries. Being told by dneil on their site (a site admin) that it does this on the Storm too which I pointed out was wrong wound up having my account deleted. Of course I pointed MANY issues and never broke the forum TOS but he continued to delete the important info I posted to help their customers as well as my account again.

I'll post a link to a message I posted on CB when v2.0 came out too early and it was as though the company went on vacation after the release because the did not respond to anyone for over a week.

    Edit for link:

BBOS users, the link is an old write up and is no longer 100% accurate. You never know though, you might find something useful.

You imagine the time it took to figure out how to create the steps not to mention the creation of the post/instructions. Crazy!

    Smile

I have tried both MS and PocketMac and gave up on both of them. I use Google sync and it works great....but each time I upgrade the OS (I run VMware and Windows to update) I have to completely reconfigure it....which I am doing now with BBC v8.5!!

I swear by Google sync (you remember well X) I have never once had a problem with missing or duplicated entries on my calendar. Stemming from sync I have had issue with them after an os install that is for sure. That is how my write up on fixing duplicate calendar entries came about.

Every time I load a OS or re send service books I always delete the ical entries for the email addresses I don't use. And that helps keep a clean ship so to speak.

In fact I have incorporated Boise States schedule calendar along with my personal calendar just recently and still not one hiccup yet.

Like I said, I've not used Google Sync (nor PocketMac) but because Mark/Space cuts corners with their code, some contact fields on the BlackBerry aren't synced & you lose data. Worse yet, they don't tell you which fields map together. Ug! Hurry up RIM & make it good.

I'm with you there. In addition to hell breaking loose if you sync between iCal and google, you still have an issue if you only use google. All day events get screwed up transferring from BB to google or vice-versa. Birthdays that you have in your BB get messed up when going to google and birthdays in google get messed up going to the BB. List goes on and on with little mess ups.

The thing that aggravates me the most, though, is that if you have recurring events in your Google calendar (i.e. class every tuesday and thursday for 10 weeks), when you sync your calendar and download the calendar from google, the events don't go in as a series, so if you need to change something, you either have to do it on google calendars, or manually go through and edit EACH occurrence as opposed to having a series (say, you wanted to add reminders on your BB, but didn't want to be sent a reminder from Google as well, one would have to go through and edit each event, or edit one event and make it recurring, and then delete all the other events..... more or less, it creates a bit of extra work.

However, I'll test it for the next month or so, using Google to remind me as opposed to having it set on my phone and I'll see how that works out. Anyway, my rant is coming to a close, but, while google sync DOES work, I feel like it can improve a whole helluvah lot.
Apps: AddOnis, CopyAll, QuickLaunch, Slacker Radio, BeeTagg, SmrtGuard, GoogleSync
