I think you'll have to bootcamp if you want to use any of the available .exe files...
Blackberry and Mac dont work too well together, you will have to bootcamp into windows. As long as its XP or higher you shouldnt run into any issues
Thread moved to the Mac Help Center forum.
Can't you load it from your BB by going to BBOS on your browser? That would make the Mac a non-issue.
The best way is to avoid the mac altogether. I use a mac as my main computer, but I use my old Dell laptop whenever I upgrade--also because I use shrinkOS. You may not have a PC but you must know someone who does...
Also, the few times I tried to use my mac, I got a startup error on my Storm. Not so using a PC. To answer your questions: it is possible, but you can't really control it. Mac DM checks for official releases/updates automatically (from what I understand).
I use VMWare. I hate windows like no other, but I use it for BB OS updates and a few other programs...

There has to be a way to create a .dmg for our Macs.
can we extract the files from a .exe file? There's a shareware app on the Apple Website called dmg master, and I'm wondering if we could try and create a .dmg.
It's probably more complex than that? I guess I could give it a go after work tomorrow.

I would agree with the other posters, bootcamp is your best bet for now.
Have you ever wondered why things intended to make our lives simpler keep getting more complicated to use?

I'm sure it is a big pain, but there IS a way. I was reading on another forum where one chap had managed successfully to create a working .dmg for us, and was able to get the OS on to his phone.
He admitted it was a very long winded process, and took forever.
If we could find out what way he did this, then at least it would give us a head start in trying to find an easier way for us to achieve this goal.
In theory, it should be possible to update using DM for Mac, as the .dmg will place the files into the relevant folders, that is something else we would have to figure out....
Any good programmers mac/pc out there fancy a challenge![]()
Geez. Not ME!
Ill stick with VMWare for now!

Well until then, I'm going to have 2 on 1 machine, rather than purchasing VM or whatever, I'm going to try the Sun Microsystem one VirtualBox
I don't know how it's going to pan out, will let you know. Anyone else been able to use it? without going off topic.
oooh, that's an interesting possibility, I may try to load Solaris on my G5.

I wonder if DM will work with Solaris? worth trying.
I'm currently downloading a trial of Win 7.
Solaris is supposed to be pretty compatible with a lot of stuff, but who knows for sure?
