I am always going somewhere with my laptop and I started wondering, is there a way to use my blackberry as a tethered modem without extra software??? If not, is there an easy/free solution?
Thanks for all help in advance!

I'm not too sure. I know there is TetherBerry, but it's not free.
BlackBerry - PDA Wifi - Tethered Modem on BlackBerry Smartphones
If so, please come back and report your experience! Thanks!
it is what im looking for, but i do have one issue... im a mac user. im not with my laptop so i cant really say too much, but i did look this up before and was confused with what to do to make it actually work. my mac recognized it as a bluetooth network, but failed to do much more than that. can you help further?
thanks
Hm, not really sure, since I am (unfortunately) not a MAC user (yet) - with PC/win you just install the RIM modem drivers...but I will try to find some help...stay tuned :-)

and i wouldnt mind installing extra software if i dont have to pay for it haha!
Give this a shot, should work for you:
Under network options go to bluetooth
Telephone number: wap.cingular
Account name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Click Advanced
Under Modem
Vender: Option
Model: GSM
APN: WAP.CINGULAR
CID: 1
Apply and hit connect
i will try in a few hours (im away from my laptop), but thanks! i'll message back with what i get!
What about this one:
View Document
wow. i have never seen that. thanks! i think if i put together the two, i will get it to work. if it does, i will post my instructions
thanks everyone!
Any luck in combining the two (really hope so!) ?
AWESOME!
Ok, sorry it took so long guys but i finally got my phone tethered to my mac with NO extra, 3rd party software.
simply go to this blackberry document (thanks breiti) and follow up to step 10. On step 10, instead of using "Generic" phone, use "Option." Then use the following (for AT&T customers only) to complete the setup.
Telephone number: wap.cingular
Account name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Click Advanced
Under Modem
Vender: Option
Model: GSM
APN: WAP.CINGULAR
CID: 1
Apply and hit connect
(thanks jlevy73)
...sounds complicated. I will write a new post (sometime) to include screen pics and step-by-step instructions. Thanks for the help as it was much needed. And again sorry it took so long.
@cdustybk Have you been able to establish whether you have had any extra charges to your bill?
