BlackBerry 9670 to be launched as BlackBerry Style?
Sep 02, 2010 - 12:20 PM - by AstroFreddy

If you've been waiting for news on the Clam-Shell BlackBerry, you'll like this. It seems that device will launch as the BlackBerry Style. Based on the feedback I've seen on this, the name was not a great move. Compared to the other BlackBerry devices, like the recently launched Torch, the 9670 doesn't seem to be as anticipated. Then again, the BlackBerry Curve series is not discussed a lot and those BlackBerry sell year after year. So perhaps I'm wrong about this and the BlackBerry Style will be well-received. Drop a comment in the forum and let us know what think about the name and your opinion on the BlackBerry 9670.

Starbucks Adds BlackBerry App to its Menu
Sep 02, 2010 - 6:59 AM - by amcatania
Following on the success of the Starbucks card, which had a stellar year claiming about one fifth of purchases using it, you will now be able to track your card information, reload your Starbucks card and use your BlackBerry to pay for Java at some stores.

If you have the app on your BlackBerry you will be able to pay for your items with your phone at Starbucks cafes in over 1,000 Target stores across the Nation and 16 Starbucks stores (8 of which are in Seattle, duh?). These stores are equipped with special scanners to read the code on your BlackBerry Smartphone.
MeterBerry Gets Updated to 2.5
Sep 01, 2010 - 9:08 PM - by AstroFreddy

MeterBerry, the popular device monitoring application has been updated. Normally, I'm not a fan of these kinds of applications but I was impressed by MeterBerry. Not only does it tell you how much charge your battery is holding, but also how quickly its dissipated. That way, you can compare how much battery you're using on a given day or particular OS build. MeterBerry can keep logs so you can see how quickly your battery is drained (i.e. in your office if you have poor coverage) at different points of the day. There are a ton of features so check out the MeterBerry webpage to see all the details. In the newest update, OS6 support has been added as well as new notification options and bug fixes. Drop us a comment in the BlackBerryOS forums and let us know what you use MeterBerry for.
Legal Gambling App now available...sort of!
Sep 01, 2010 - 3:16 PM - by amcatania

After a year and a half of development and high level scrutiny by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Leroy's Sportsbook has been given the green light...as long as you live in Nevada. Carriers of the app include, Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile at this time. There are plans of other carriers becoming available at a later date.

Showing us the love, this was an app which has been developed first for BlackBerry devices and not IPhone or Android.
ScoreMobile Updated to v1.5
Sep 01, 2010 - 2:47 PM - by amcatania

One of the hottest mobile sports app in BlackBerry App World (which also happens to be FREE), has been updated to version 1.5. In this latest update, Tennis channels were added so fans could follow the ATP and WTA. A new calendar control was also implemented to select any given date for data instead of scrolling back and forth a day at a time.

If you're a sports fan sporting a BackBerry, chances are you already know about this great app. If you are one of the few who doesn't, I suggest you follow the links provided and pick this bad boy up ASAP!

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 has been resting on AT&T shelves for a few weeks and now Canadians can bank on an official release date from Rogers. That date is September 24th for $199.99 on a 3 year plan. This is about two weeks later than the Futureshop images showing the 15th as a release date.
eBay BlackBerry App Gets Upgraded
Sep 01, 2010 - 12:11 PM - by amcatania

Version 1.0.1.6 is the newest upgrade to eBay's BlackBerry App. Since its
release from Beta back in June, this is also the first upgrade to become
available. We haven't seen a changelog associated with the upgrade but
users claim the app tends to work alot better than previously.

Although the app is only available for certain countries, it is available

for download in BlackBerry App World for all BlackBerry devices.
Leaked: OS 5.0.0.912 for the BlackBerry Curve 9300
Sep 01, 2010 - 6:34 AM - by Hodges

One of our members has informed us that BBleaks has leaked a OS for the Curve 3G. If you are a new owner of this fresh newer device, you may want to lock in that USB cord. For the rest of us, I have to agree with mrmojr1, hybrid makers are going to have a field day with this one. Scoop up OS 5.0.0.912 for the 9300 after the jump.

Warning: Please remember that this IS NOT an official release OS. If you wish to install this OS keep in mind that this may cause your phone to not function correctly. BlackberryOS and any other BlackberryOS Official sites are not responsible. For those of you who may have trouble upgrading, we've provided you with some guides to help you out and in case something goes wrong.

Aug 31, 2010 - 12:32 PM - by TheOnlyJrod

RIM cooperates with Indian government?
Aug 31, 2010 - 9:28 AM - by adperdue

Hit the brakes, Earl. Is RIM giving the Indian Big Brother something it says it cant give every other government? According to the Wall Street Journal, "The Canadian company has agreed to provide "some technical solutions" for local security agencies to monitor the company's encrypted email service, a senior Indian government official said, without outlining what the solutions were."

Classic Game Made Ready for the BlackBerry Torch 9800
Aug 30, 2010 - 4:58 PM - by TheOnlyJrod

Growing up I remember playing this game. Before it every made its way into the electronic world, it was made in all different forms. No matter if it was made to fit in your hand, sit on a table or the size of a table; it always seemed to be made of wood. The game was/is very fun, yet very challenging. It takes a steady hand and good reflexes not to lose this game. Winning is not so simple, and can take time to master.

Now it is available for the Torch.
For those who are thinking "If its on my phone it should be easier" The Answer NO WAY! It is not the slightest bit easier.
Pandora updates to 1.1.4
Aug 30, 2010 - 3:07 PM - by adperdue

It's a crisp spring night, rollin' west of St. Louis, traffic is nowhere to be seen. The squawk box (CB) hasn't made a crackle for the last 10 miles. The local classic rock station is playing Kiss's most gnarly song. The radio starts to fade away, and static pollutes the sound coming out of my speakers. Normally, a couple years ago, I would be madder than a Lot Lizard (Hooker) in a Bear Cave (police station).

Rumor - Rogers to get the BlackBerry Torch
Aug 30, 2010 - 8:19 AM - by Neolantis

For those of you wanting to get the BlackBerry Torch and either couldn't or didn't want to because of the AT&T Network it is on, the near future may hold some bright results for you.

As you can see above, it has a release date of September 15th and is quite expensive. However, it is available for a discount. Not sure how much reps will be attempting to shave off the price, but it is good news if you are on the Rogers Network and want to pick up this snazzy new device.

If you are on Rogers will you be picking this bad boy up?
