Dont use the DM to upgrade, go to C:/program files/common files/research in motion/apploader and use the program that looks like a phone (Loader.exe) this will load the OS to your device.

Yes I removed the vendor file, every time I reopen the apploader file it is always in there. I opened the program that looks like a phone but is (application .exe) When I opened it a window opened for device application selection and lists all the apps. When I download the os to my PC should there be a file to open for it because I can't find it anywhere.

I found the module tab for the software properties and the first one says; rim0x04001404.sfi installed version .174, then all the modules following after all are v.141. The core apps properties also has .141 except for 6 apps whihc sat not installed but say the v.141 is available

I also have notice I am unable to find my web browser, when I went to my broswer under adv opts It says Default Browser config:
I am also unable to send out any mms.
I also do not have any entries in my service book
This was is an unlocked phone with AT&T network and did send mms was not able to use the browser since the area I'm assigned to does not support that form of data service yet.

I loaded one of my back up files and I did get some service books back, I do have my mms back now, but I still can not locate my browser Icon anywhere. I am still showing .141 phone still seems a little sluggish and still waititng to see if I have to do any batt pulls yet.

The service books i currently have are:
Provisioning [OTASL]
BlackBerry Maps - NA [LbsCo...
WLM 2.1 [BBIMConfig]
myemailadd[CM]
BBFS1 [BBIMConfig]

So do you have your Email? if so, go to setup/email settings and select service books, then select resend.

Really dumb n00b question when I connect to DM-4.7 it says there are upgrades should I d/l them or not?looks like core components and such these are for 4.7.0.75? or what I have installed?

When I go to setup it only has setup wizard and blutooth setup. In the set up wizard when I go to email set up it asks if i want to use a work email account with bbes, that is the only option it gives me. I do have a copy of the service books loaded onto my pc how would I go about loading them from my pc to my device? Also when I mms occasionally it will not send and give me an equipment error. So far 2 battery pulls 15min apart.

If you have installed .148 there is no more need to d/l anything

Try THIS. It has a zip with the generic service books in the thread. This should fix you problem MAS. Let us know if you need any help with it.

So far on my 10th battery pull since I updated my OS 7 hrs ago.

I read you got your browser back. Whats going wrong?

Just hit cancel it happens to me on every other OS install

The easiest way to stop this from asking is to go to C:/Program Files/Common Files/Shared/Loader Files and select your OS and rt click on it and choose "Rename", I would just add an "A" at the end of the device discripton 9530-v4.7.0.141_P4.0.0.174A. This will stop the DM from telling you that you have updated files.

Haven't been able to use my browser yet have to wait about 4 weeks before I will be in an area that supports the browser. I did get my mms back and have everything set up for when I do reach an area with browser capabilities, and forgot about the BB key and bringing up my browser but I still do not have it on my menu. Don't know what went wrong but now on my 12th batt pull. I let my device sit for a few minutes and then it locks up and is unresponsive. I didn't have this problem until about 2 weeks after getting it and only had it since the end of March. This is irritating me so much, I'm starting to wonder if it has to do with the device being unlocked and using the AT&T generic service books. I haven't loaded any apps onto the device; I've only transferred information from another BB device and switched the wall paper. I really like the Storm but I'm getting to the point to pawn it off to someone else once I fix my Bold. :banghead:

I think your problem with not having browser capabilities is whats causing your hidden browser problem. When most people loose there browser when loading a new OS, the icon doesn't return til it has connected with a server.

I must say this is very addicting Have been reading ALOT and I might try my hand at building a hybred os would you have any tips/hints/do's/donts? so far I like the .132/V5.1 things seem much better and faster then the .75 LMAO VZW gave me the unlock code for my phone today.What i gain from that i dont know except that i can take it to another provider(I think)
