new to the BB Storm the .75 stinks slow,wont power off....ect what OS can i install over top of the .75?? Please NO flames just looking for information.

Welcome to BBOS kruzzenkidd You will never have to worry about flaming over here.

My personal favorite OS is the BBCrackman V5.1 for the .132 OS hybrid. It is an all around great OS and for you coming from .75 will make you think you have a new phone

Yes it installs very easily and will install over .75. And if you should brick your phone (which you won't) will be here to help you out.

Kruzz what base OS do you want .132 or .141? And I will work something up for you once you supply that info for me

Dont know which one is better for the storm on verizons network?I do ALOT of txt,email,web surfing,as well as phone calls,dont want to brick it,and can it be downgraded if needed verizon wont support anything over .75

Remember these are all leaked and not official OS's so Verizon will not support them, but you can easily downgrade back. I downgraded my first storm with no issues when i had to return it.

I would recommend .132 V 5.1 for you since I had issue with signal strength using .141 I will write something up for you so you can give it a shot when you get home.

Ok here I go

**back up your phone through Desktop Manger's back up option. If you have any 3rd party apps back those up manually as well. If you don't know how to do that click this link and follow the instructions http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/b...arty-apps.html

1. Delete any OS's for your phone from your PC (control panel add/remove)

2. Download OS .132 from here http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/9...-software.html

3. Install .132 to your pc

4. Download BBCrackman's V5.1 for .132 from here http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/9...w-gps-fix.html

5. Follow the instructions for installing V5.1 (this thread is for V5.0 but it installs the same as 5.1) from here http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/9...n-v5-here.html

6. Download Shrink A OS from here BlackBerry Apps/Hybrids by lyricidal

7. Extract the .exe to your desktop (if you are on vista right click on it and select run as admin)

8. click the browse button in Shrink and browser to your OS folder
C>program files>common files>research in motion>shared>loader> Highlight your OS folder

9. Select the items you wish to delete from the OS, once you get the "your os has been shrunk messsage" plug in your phone to the PC (make sure desktop manager is not running) and click the launch loader button

10. sit back and wait for the install to complete it will take some time.

If you run into any problems just post and someone can help

I have a unlocked Storm and use AT&T as my provider, will I be able to update my OS? If I can will I have to re-unlock my phone and install the required service books aor will it just update? I would really like to update my device since I have constant freezing issues; have to do a battery pull about every 1/2 hour.

Yes, you can update your OS. No you wont have t re-unlock it. Just make sure you do a backup prior to OS upgrade. The apploader will make a backup to, but I do it manually just to be on the safe side.

Yes MASERATIGUY, you can use any of the OS's found here. I would suggest starting with .132. Found HERE. It is a straight OS upgrade. Your unlock should remain through this process. As for your service books, should a problem arise, there is a thread that walks you through fixing it. Its HERE

No worries, I understand your hesitation. I do not have an unlocked storm, mine is on VZW, however I do have an unlocked Bold that I run on TMO and I have no issues with upgrading at all. I have change the OS's several times and it always remains unlocked. The mep code is stored in the partition in the non rewritable memory and cannot be erased. So you will not lose it once you change to another OS.

An unlocked storm is no different in regards to success than a carrier provided one. The Leaked OS's are much faster and smoother than the lower official OS's carriers have.
