Thread: Bold v4 Hybrid in the works!!!

Just wanted to give everyone an update with what I am currently working on. v4 for the Bold is in its final stages of assembly and will be ready for beta testing soon. It is based on 5.0 OS and contains files from 190 and 230 from the Tour. The main focus on this Hybrid is as always memory management, process management and overall speed of the OS. The Bold is RIM's flagship and this Hybrid will help in solidifying this.

If you would like to participate in the Beta testing you will need to be a VIP member and join Club VIP, then submit to join the Bold Beta Tester group. I look forward to seeing you all there.

I have 5 slots available for testers.

By the way for those who want to know viigo works!!!

I'm trying to figure out the "Viigo problem." I am running 5.0.0.190 and Viigo works flawlessly.

I was talking with BBC last night and viigo was working on V3 for him and the testers that used it. Not sure what could be the issue as I don't use it.

Can't wait to check this out, it sounds very promising! Curious as to what files you took from the Tour OS ? Looking forward to hearing more details about this beast!

Agreed, as I am running .190 now and it is working quite well. I assume this is more of a performance Hybrid rather than options of different features and what not?

Will there be any different/new features that .190 doesn't already offer?

Appreciate your work, looking forward to more details of this Hybrid. All the Hybrids I used for 4.6 were awesome, yours included.

Sorry, had posted to the wrong board: Is it possible to add the files from the curve or another Blackberry so that your hybrid will allow us to have UMA on the bold? In other words, we can do voice calls over wifi like you can on the Curve.

That sounds like that may be more related towards the radio file. Let's wait and see what BBC says. That would be a great feature to have!

That is a firmware limitation and is virtually impossible unless you find a way to hack the firmware, the sfi file nor the java has nothing to do on it.

very excited for this. i've got this weird feeling that i'll have a newer better OS on my bold then what my onxy will eventully come with.

ETA would have been this weekend possibibly. However someone has gone and messed that all up by leaking 238! Hahaha

I need to do a little more work since the new OS came out but shouldn't be delayed to long.

I'm just impatient b/c the memory on .238 is kinda low. It'll be worth the wait for your hybrid.

Well worth the wait for the updated files your adding due to the .238 leak!!! Can't wait to get your v4 on my device and check it out!!
