This is a new hybrid for the
This is recommended mainly for 8330 users, but:
it should work on any 4.5 Device with some tweaking
This particular beta hybrid consists of:
4.5.0.163
4.6.0.291
5.0 Files

Please Back up EVERYTHING before installing this.
Java Only: 4.5/4.6/5.0 Hybrid v1 (link broken)
131 Radio (recommended for Verizon): Download Here (link broken) [dont forget to rename it properly]

To install:
1. Download the latest OS for your 4.5 device
2. Copy or extract this whole files contents to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\83#0-v4.5.0.1##_P3.4.#.#/Java folder (Where # is the actual OS you've installed)
2a. Shrink files if you'd like with the newest Shrink-A-OS included
3. Click Launch Loader in Shrink-A-OS OR go to Loader.exe in the AppLoader folder and update your phone

Please Back up EVERYTHING before installing this.

BBM 5 is included with it off the bat, but if you would like to go back to BBM 4.x, go into the BBM/4.6 folder and copy and paste all the files from it to your Java folder

Please post any issues you have so I can try to fix them. Also - let me know if the previous profiles fix is still required for Verizon users and I will update accordingly (or issue a file fix .zip)

Will this hybrid work with all curves and OSs? My wife has .160 and my sister had .162. I would like to install this for them.

As long as you replace just the Java folder, this should function fine (I did not include any radio files or .alx's so that it's 4.5 devices, not a specific one)

Should I do a copy/replace or should I delete the JAVA folder and replace it? I have a Verizon 8330 curve?

The tabs are apart of the radio file so although parts/files of 5.0.0.130 Browser can be added, the tabs will not

I would do a copy/paste to be on the safe side, but all the files should be replaced anyway
I also included a link to the .131 radio file, which is recommended for Verizon users (as apparently the new ones give you guys some short of chirp bug? Can't confirm this as my test curve is Bell)

this can not be done unless you use the 5.0.0.130 radio as well

is there anyway u can add greek as an input language i still cant seem to get taht to work and i have trued 3 diff ways that have been told to me hehehe thx in advance

I have it installed. The process went fine. I have not activated the phone yet!

Only certain files will work with 5.0 and the ones pertaining to that feature will not

5.0 BBM is included

I have had this running on my phone for about 36 hours. I have found no problems at all. Thanks for the great work to keep phones like the curve from getting old.:hail:

so far nothing wrong with this.. only thing that happened was my phone lost data signal for a few hours on and off yesterday but all stabilized today

Ok Bill here ya go

First thing you want to do is download and install onto your PC the newest OS for your phone which is 4.5.0.160 and you can download that Here

Once that is installed to your PC, navigate to C-program files-common files-research in motion-app loader and delete the vendor file.


Then download Lyricidal's hybrid (java folder download) located Here
It is a zipped file and he uses winrar for that. If you don't have winrar you will need to download and install that program as well. You can download winrar Here

Once you have winrar installed download the hybrid folder from above and save it anywhere (ie download folder, desktop) once that downloads follow these instructions to install to the OS .160 that you installed on the first step.

Copy or extract this whole files contents to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\83#0-v4.5.0.1##_P3.4.#.# folder (Where # is the actual OS you've installed)


Once you have done that you can navigate to c-program files-common files-research in motion-app loader- and double click loader.exe to install to your phone.



**remember to back up your device memory through Desktop manger and your 3rd party apps before doing this just in case**

i need help... bryan has been helping me load the hybrid into my curve 8330 and it is now locked up with a 507 in the middle of the screen...

i am getting a message on my pc monitor ....email setup application cannot be loaded because required files are not available

Welcome to BBOS!!! Have you downloaded and installed the base OS to PC? Also, just to double check, do you have 8330 or 8330m?

i have the 8330m.. yes, i did download the base os
