    Ok...for OS you don't need an alx....sorry

Here are the steps for the OS:

    1. Uninstall all other OS from PC thru add/remove programs
    2. Download and install the recommended base OS to PC
    3. Download the hybrid
    4. Double click on the hybrid installer and follow instructions to install it over the OS recommended
    5. Back up your phone AND 3rd party apps (click on guide in my signature and there are steps for each process)
    6. When back ups all done, wipe your phone with BBSAK (BBSAK)
    7. If you would like to shrink the OS, here is a link to Shrink-A-OS: Shrink-A-OS
    8. Delete vendor.xml file in c/program files/common files/research in motion/app loader, scroll to the bottom (if you use shrink a os, it deletes it automatically)
    9. Double click on loader.exe or from shrink, click launch loader.exe
    10. Wait for it to be finished, then restore everything thru Desktop Manager
    11. Do 3 60-second battery pulls (pull battery, wait 60seconds, replace battery, wait till phone boots up, repeat total of 3 times)
    12. Set everything up the way you like it and enjoy your phone

    no i didnt
    1 downgraded from 5.0.100 to 4.6.0.282
2 installed to the pc and then deleted vendor and clicked on loader and its on the bb
3 now i installed the v1 as showed to the "shared" folder
my question is, if i click on the LOADER again, from common files/research in motion/apploader, it will show as if it'll reinstall the whole OS again, so do i do that? or am i doing smth wrong?

    Hi,

New here, just installed my 1st Hybrid OS!!

Just have one quick question, when I installed the 5.0.1.xxx builds I noticed that when I started the browser, the start page was very different from 4.6.0.xxx, when I run the browser in my Hybrid OS, it seems to have the same start page as 4.6.0.xxx.

Is this normal? I assume that it is running the 5.0 browser when I actually go to load web pages? Is there anyway I can check?

I never use BBM anyway, so probably won't get the benefit from that (none of my mates have BB's).

Thanks for the top OS Crackman!!!

Are the menus, drop down options, profile menus, sound schemes, files browser all in here and the same as OS 5? What exactly is in this hybrid?

First of all, nice place you got here. Thanks for the Hybrid! I've tried my hand at them and so far keep winding up with fatal errors.

So I managed to get this put onto my device and got everything restored, but I'm not seeing much evidence that this is the 5.0 browser. There's still no word wrap, and the search bar pull down still looks like 4.6. Thoughts?

Before anyone asks, I did this install from a full wipe, there's only the one OS on my computer (.282 plus the hybrid 1.0 installed). I've tried via DM and loader and done several battery pulls. Still looks like a 4.6 browser to me.

After I followed the installation steps my BBM went back to 4.6 from 5 and browser is still at 4.6. Do I need to wipe the BB before this install? Not sure if the hybrid took and it only loaded the 4.6.0.282. Any other way I can see if the hybrid worked?

I was up until 1 am working on tis and then crashed. I needed sleep. Got everything running on my phone. Browser seems a bit faster on pages that I knew were slow to load. My memory does look alot better. I still have to setup all my programs again and I'll play with it more during the day.
    Thanks for the help Elmer!

    Question how do you know?

How do you know that you are using the new browser? I see the BBM 5.0 but on the list of applications it says that 4.6 bbm is installed and for browser the same. Can someone show a screen shot or IM me through BBM? I followed all the instructions but not sure if it really is working the way it states.
