Our last 9930 hybrid I thought was better on battery than the recently leaked 340. And there have been a few bugs reported with that leak. So in the quest for a better battery, we have put together a hybrid consisting of close to a full OS of 342 files. For more info and the download link, go here and grab it.

You need 7.1.0.340 to use as a base. Some of the links you may find are dead now, but try this link it still seems to work.

Ran a build with less 342 files and it was better than the leaked 340 for almost a week. This build has only been tested for a couple of days and it is getting better on battery. Time will tell.

    Very nice to hear.

Question. Do you think unused language files can affect the performance of a device?

If your memory use is low, probably. My memory use is usually around 34% with no problems.

It would be best not to load anything you don't need when you run apploader. I don't shrink with 7.0 anymore because it has caused some problems.

Yea, I noticed that shrinking can mess things up myself. Usually all I ever do now is just uninstall any languages that I won't be using.

I'm also a Verizon subscriber, so I get all of their crappy apps I never use.

One thing I have been doing recently is to modify the alx's to make the VZW apps such as Caller ID and PTT so that they are not required for installation. Helps some.

Most users so far have reported that this hybrid is running well with minimum memory loss. Battery life for some has been better than straight 340, although it is about the same for me so far. If you have tried this build, let us know how it is working out. Thanks.
