Loaded up earlier without any problems.....did my 3 batt pulls....loaded back minimal number of 3rd party apps to see if I can determine any leaks....also will restore my data in the morning on my BES at work...

booted up with 52 mb of free memory following each pull.....will get reconnected to my BES in the morning and see how this looks over the weekend.....

i have crackmans v6 installed on my phone with .148 and i noticed a little bug. i was writing a text message in landscape mode and then i hit the phone button to make a call and the phone app stood in landscape mode. it wouldnt change back to portrait mode. it happened to me on 2 different occasions. i did the 3 bat pulls as reccommended. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

ok so i been running v6 over .148 for over 24 hours now, my app. memory gets REALLY low
it is at 11MB ! atm i never saw my memory get that low b4.
The memory when i was on OS .132/v5 was awesome, im running the same apps as i was on OS .132/v5 but v6 really sucks the memory out.
I was wondering if switching the .148 radio file back to .132 would fix this issue ?

Loaded V6 w/.90 last night....rather than restoring data with a backup, I was experimenting with a forum suggestion on CB that using data backup may be loading corrupted files and contributing to mem leak....

I loaded back just a few 3rd party apps that I use most often in order to observe free memory leaking. Added back Meterberry, Quick Launch 2.0, Google Maps (I know..a probable leaker), BBOS launcher, & BBOS theme (red)....booted up with 53 mb last night...hasn't been that high in quite some time....did the necessary 3 batt pulls as instructed....

On the way into work, device had an unscheduled reset....something I haven't had much on my Storm....reactivated on my BES to repopulate my contacts and calendar....rebooted again with 53 mb, and currently holding in the mid-40's, which is very good for me so far....

I've been impressed so far with how the memory will build itself back up...still had an early leak of 6 mb within the first 30 minutes after a batt pull, which I've been experiencing for a long time with multiple OS's .....I may drop Google Maps to see what kind of result I get...

Otherwise I have been impressed with the substantial improvement in color banding that .90 takes care of for the most part...gonna hang with this thru the weekend and hope for no more random resets.....

I'm running .148 with the .132 radio file. Do I need to or should I totally wipe the device before installing the .148/v6 Hybrid? I'm assuming the Device S/W version I need installed on the PC is v.148 correct? Also, can this be shrunk prior to installation? Appreciate any feedback. Thanks everyone.

Oh, one more question: If I can shrink it, do I do that before or after loading the v6 hybrid installer package? I'm assuming I load .148 on PC, load v6 hybrid on PC, shink OS, wipe device (if I have to) w/JL Commander and then load & restore followed by 3 batt pulls. Of couse all of that is preceded by a backup and a 3rd party app backup as well...

Ok here is what you want to do

Delete previous OS off your PC (add/remove programs)
Install a fresh copy of .148
install V6 over .148
then use Shrink and when finished launch loader

THanks - that's what I'll do then. Not wiping will save me a little bit of time I assume. Will let you know how I make out when it's finished...

i would suggest:
Delete previous OS off your PC (add/remove programs)
Install a fresh copy of .148
install V6 over .148

Okay....6 hours later.....

memory doing well....staying around 40 mb.....still had the early leak after start up.....in the span of 90 minutes it dropped 11.5 mb.....this was after removing Google Maps in the middle of the day....still haven't identified what is causing the early memory leak.....

overall phone is still holding up well....still building back memory quite nicely....did have a dropped call, and I'm not overly impressed with the call quality....not really sure why everyone was raving about .90 radio being so great.....

one thing that is really bugging me is when I unlock the phone, the screen orientation somewhat sticks in landscape mode....I have to either relock and unlock again or shake the phone to get it into portrait mode.....a little frustrating, but not unique to this hybrid, I noticed in the last few I've tried, including .148....

will stay with it thru the weekend to let it settle in....really like the better color and larger keys, so hopefully the random reboot & call issues are a fluke...

***UPDATE: Just had another random reboot within the last 10 minutes...if this keeps up will have to move back to V6 .148

Ok, so far so good - booting up from 1st of 3 batt pulls. If I go to Options | Advanced | Applications, how many or what files should I see that are 5.0? My browser still shows 4.7 but I did see a few 5.0 files and I do not ge the blue progress bar at boot up so I'm guessing the Hybrid did install correctly - I think...

5.0 files showing are: Blackberry S/MIME Support, DOD Root Certificates, and that's it... Did I do this right?

Yes sounds like you got it up and running

Your about should show 4.0.0.181 --- 4.7.0.148

There are 100+ files from 5.0 in the hybrid. You need to look in 4.7 core application and 4.7 system software to see the modules used. And browser is definitely 5.0

The lack of blue progress bar is because of the 5.0 files.

Thanks guys. Definitely have the .148 and .181 showing. How do I look at the Core Appl and System files to see the modules listed? Am I looking on my PC in the .../Java folder or on the BB itself? If the latter, how? Thanks.

On the phone go to options>advanced>applications>hit bb button and choose modules then scroll down the list and you should see 5.0 files there
