Thread: Willyboy 9000 v3 .592/.607

This is a hybrid for the Bold 9000 device. I recommend uninstalling any other OS’s off of your computer and running CCleaner (including registry cleaner) to ensure a clean install. Please back up all your data before proceeding.

-This is meant to install over the leaked 5.0.0.592 base OS.
-Run Willyboy 9000 v3.exe to install the hybrid over the base.
-"Exit" the installer, Shrink-A-OS will pop up. Shrink out all languages you do not need to save space. DO NOT shrink out default wallpapers and themes.
-If you choose to wipe, now would be the time to do it.
-Launch loader from SAOS. If core applications are missing from loader selection, try launching from BBSAK or BBMCP.

This is a .592/.607 build.

-FAST boot times
-NO SMS/Messages error
-NO trackball issues in app switcher, etc.
-East Asian Language support is included and fully functional in this build!

The .592 base has the same platform as .554, so expect the same crystal clear call quality. This hybrid has improved UI speeds, transitions, and internet/browser speeds over straight .554. Also, look for a better bluetooth connection. It is important to keep in mind that the first 1-2 reboots will take a lot longer than normal. Also, battery life will not be good until the device settles which usually takes 24-48 hours.

hi willyboy, somehow the memory has gone down drastically but battery life has been very good. Do you have any suggestion? I run life in pocket. tether, smrtguard, bbmaps, googlemaps, forward reply and edit, berryweather, insert fancy character. Browser is still very fast. bootup time is still too much. Thank you

I had a fast bootup time, so I'm not sure what that's about for you. It could be the amount/type of apps that you have on your device.

THe newer 5.0 builds are getting a little bigger, so the fact that your device has 5mb less memory is not surprising. I'd recommend trying to shrink out a little more than you did previously and that should offset your loss.

I sure am enjoying your builds. they are really solid. I agree with your remarks about my apps. what I am concerned is that is there any way I can remove Maps+Nav from At&t? Also facebook and My space from the build? Just a thought. Thanks

Those are applications that are pushed to your device via service books from your provider. While you see an icon, you can check in the applications screen, they are not really installed.

My best advice would be to hide the icon and forget they're even there

I'm having problems on App World with this hybrid. I have just experienced it here on v3/.592. Sometimes, I can't close App World and I need to reboot. It doesn't freeze/hang, for example I'm going to select an app, the green loader pops up and it will just stay there, even if I try to select close, nothing happens, that's why I need to reboot. But I'm guessing it's not because of the hybrid but the base OS itself.. I have reinstalled App World a lot of times too.. and I always wipe my device before installing a new OS.

quite strange I didn't encounter with that problem with appworld. This build is fine and solid save for memory dropping so quick from 35 to 23 MB for me. don't know why.

^ oh well, no big.. as for the battery life.. I think v2.1 is the best so far. ^^

battery life seems to be ok, in fact i own 2 batteries, 1 that came with BB and 1 purchased 2 months ago... my new battery performs much better [1.5x] than standard battery which came with device... but all in all battery life was best at v1.2 [at least for me]... :1244:

are u experiencing any memory drops/leaks...? :crazy:

yup! Just this morning, when I woke up my battery is at 92% (well, I always turn off my cellphone before going to sleep), then the only app I was using until now is the BBM and now battery is down to 73% in just an hour.. I was only chatting with two people.. I dunnoe if you find it's just normal.. what do you think? I'm also experiencing some hangups that I need to restart my bb.. I might be downgrading down to v2.1 if this keeps up..

So far a very solid build. I get a day and a half with moderate use and not turning my BB off at all. Memory does drop fast. Mine reboots at just under 30mb and drops to around 20mb in 2 days. Then it recovers and fluctuates between 18-24mb. Very happy and thanks WB.

well... are u using ur standard battery...? my standard battery tends to drop A LOT faster than my new battery... i wouldn't rely too much on da battery "meter" as it sometimes deceives :Eyecrazy:

i was wondering if da BBM issue is related to new OS... at first i was running BBM 66 [came with v3] and after 3 days i downgraded to BBM 57... device performance improved some... less memory leak...

i have also experienced some hang ups which happened at random... but today my device looks/performs better... i pulled battery last nite and inserted my new battery hone: so i will let u know if i experience more hang ups later on...

but all in all i think this version [592] comes with some memory leak issues...

maybe WB can fix them on v3.1 :1244:

Many of the users complaining about a heavy memory leak are also running third party themes, a huge culprit of memory leaks. These leaks can also be due to the browser or other applications caching data during usage. It's always good practice to give your device a battery pull every day or so. This will help clear out the volatile memory and freshen up your device.

i think 3rd party themes are not da issue either... i always run 3rd party themes and for example while i was on ur v1.2 i never had a "mem leak" fluctuation as big as this one...

but... is not a big deal 4me as long as my BB is running smooth that's what matters... :07:

since installing your hybrid I cannot get my wifi to connect to my home network. been at it all afternoon.

I downgraded to 2.1 and lovin the battery life. ^^. v3 is almost perfect though coz the east asian languages worked! Can't wait for another hybrid
