In my opinion I think wiping would be the best way to go to ensure you get the best possible results

I'll stay away then..I do have my S2 tester that I can load a whole new OS on..SO load up 428 then replace java w/.497 java files and include your patch, Shrink or not, then load OS right? Thanks in advance

Can the 497 hybrid and patch be installed with 451 on the 9550?

It's currently working on my 9550. Based on info in some other threads for this hybrid, I used .451 as my base, installed it to my netbook, deleted the Java folder, then replaced it with the Hybrid 497 shrunk Java folder (after replacing the HYBRID java files with those from the 530 patch). Wiped my S2 and loaded that up straight as my new OS and have no issues so far.

First time I tried it though I had a major issue with the phone function zapping my battery at over 200%/hour on every phone call. On second install its working perfectly so far.

OOAK, can you confirm then that your 497 Hybrid and related 530 patch were intended for running over 428? I saw it said .428+ and a few posts right after suggested that .451 should be alright so I went with it.

Don't let that hold you back, I reinstalled the Twitter beta with this hybrid and it works fine. I also put it on my best friends 9530 for him after installing this exact same hybrid (minus the 530 patch as it wasn't available when I upgraded his device for him). If you have any issues getting Twitter beta back on your updated OS, pm me on here and I'll give you my PIN, a very easy 'reinstall' for Twitter beta.

this is the entire 497 java folder,
5 484 files (1 to make the 497 work, the rest to make it work for the storm1)

with bbm 5.0.0.57, app world, facebook, docs to go etc...


It is only the java, apps, and tools folders

Installation:

Install your base:

9530 users: 419+

9500 users: 451+

9520 users: 436+

9550 users: 428+

delete the java folder in the base OS from your pc
(You can find the OS folders in X:/Program files/common files/research in motion/shared/loader files/your os)

install the hybrid (with the installer version you have to choose the os folder to install to)

Shows .497 in the Help>About Screen

OOAKPC - So install the base Hybrid at the begining of this thread then install your latest patch? How much memory do you get after shrinking if you don't load the extra's?

Hey guys, we're gonna do this a little different this time around.

This is a patch I have packaged up.

The patch consists of 509/530/545/548 files

This should (although not tested) work on any BB phone using a radio between versions .42x to .548. However I recommend using the latest available for your device.

To install:

Download and install the os you wish you use the radio from to your pc

Add the files from the patch to the java folder of the os you just downloaded and installed.

You can find the OS folders in X:/Program files/common files/research in motion/shared/loader files/your os

Note depending on the radio you are using you may need to add more files than the 554 patch files (included in the patch)

If you are using a radio lower than 517, you're help->about should read 509. Otherwise it will show the version number of the os you installed on your pc.
