Thread: 9530/9500 - .451 Hybrid (by lyricidal) Findings and Fixes

Hello to All,
I upgraded my Storm from straight .419 to Lyridical's .419/.451 Hybrid. It seems to be running fine. Thanks Lyridical! I had two issues though. 1) After I ran the .451Hybrid.exe, Shrank it, it installed it successfully. But when it finished installation a Windows Compatability window popped up and said that it didn't install correctly and should be reinstalled with recommended settings...should I rerun the installer? I launched the .451Hybrid.exe in Administrator mode? Does SAOS run in Administrator mode when it pops up automatically during the install? 2) Not all of Lyridical's programs loaded, just poynt as far as I can tell. Should I manually rerun SAOS in Administrator mode to see if the other programs load to the Storm? Thanks in advance for any insight.

SAOS does not load the OS but opens RIMS app loader with can be found in program files/shared files/research in motion/AppLoader

Open it manually after you have shrunk your OS and do it with admin privileges to re-run the install on your berry...

Just letting you know how it ended up. Everything is running fine. I reran the install and it went successfully, I guess I had to run Apploader manually? Then I ran BBDM and it had an upgrade for the core applications? The battery life is excellent on this build!!! Props to Lyridical for this one as straight .419 had a horrible battery drain for me. I lost some memory but the battery life is more than a fair trade. It's still dimming though? I read on a post somewhere that the dimming issue is related to the options in the clock bedside mode. I made the changes, he recommended, but it still dims. Oh well. Thanks for your help you are great!! :hail:

Just Curious...Did you run those core "upgrade" applications that DM reported being available? If so, you may have actually inadvertantly downgraded several of the files to something other than what is actually in Lyricidal's hybrid. Check Options>Applications>Core. Highlight Blackberry 5.0.0.Core...>BB button >Modules. Just about everything should be showing .451 with only a few exceptions. If you are seeing a lot of other lower numbered files, you may have inadvertantly let DM downgrade your OS. Not certain of this for sure, but you may want to check. If I'm wrong, I hope someone can clarify.

Update: Been running this .451 hybrid for 3 days now and have had zero problems. Battery is good and no memory drops after the first day. All my apps are working and the speed of everything is faster than before.

Since installing this Hybrid, phone has been runnig great. Very responsive and stable. The 3G logo is also displayed on the home screen, which I haven't seen in quite some time. Thanks Lyricidal.

First Hybrid of Lyricidal's I've ever loaded up on my 9530. Very easy to understand instructions, nice touch to find Shrink-A-OS already in the correct directory as well. I have the following 3rd party apps:

All the above mention works well. Google apps searches my phone at a faster rate as well. I am amazed how my free memory drain has come to a dead crawl. Two days with only a 3 tenth of one mb drop.

First off, another fine and totally awesome hybrid Lyricidal! Seems nearly flawless and the best OS I've had in a while. Nice to have the 3G icon back too! The transitions are lightning fast, memory drop offs are a non issue and battery life is terrific. One minor annoyance I've found and really my only complaint is that if I'm using SMS my text isn't auto-correcting the caps, smart case or punctuations, but in BB messenger or e-mails it works fine. Other than that, well done my man. Keep up the awesome work!

Thanks for they hybrid Lyric...i just seem to have one prob though...when i go to youtube (mobile site), i cant watch none of the videos...(An error has occured attempting to play media.)...


If any one can help me solve this issue, it would be great...

I guess, you have deleted vendor.xml? Maybe you are now experiencing the higher OS 5.x video playback issue - I - for example - cannot play any divx video...

Yup, deleted the vendor file...if nobody has any ideas, i will just wipe and reinstall...hopefully its just one of them random things that happened during initial install...

I did a fresh pc install...wiped again amd reinstalled to phone...I'm getting youtube streaming...it seems to be working again...

Is it just me or has anyone noticed that the video playback only works on certain vids now? I had an avi that use to work previously. After installing this it doesnt work anymore. I can hear the avi but i can not see anything. recording with the video cam works. i tried deleting the avi and adding it back from my computer but no avail.

I have the same issue..But no biggie..Don't watch avis on my phone. Try mp4s and see if that works. :haha:

I can play videos on my STORM that were recorded on my NOKIA but thats about it?
