95x0 - 328/351 Hybrid Findings and Fixes

INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK / MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP ALL OF YOUR DATA

READ THIS/WATCH THIS FIRST

Here are simple instructions by jgutie6634 here on CB
Step 1. Remove ALL BB OS's from your computer in Control Panel>Programs. (Device Software)
Step 2. Remove ALL BB OS files in C:\Program Files>Common Files>Research In Motion>Shared>Loader Files
Step 3. Download .328 and install onto your PC
Step 4. Download Latest Here
Step 5. Wipe device to 507
Step 6. Run hybrid over .328 then SAOS will load up
Step 7. Shrink what you want make sure .328 is in the OS window up at the top. Shrink then hit the loader button.
Step 8. After the install restore your apps and personal info, etc.
Step 9. Do a few battery pulls to let OS settle and stabilize.
Step 10. Enjoy

Latest file additions and changes:
This hybrid includes:
- 400+ .348/351 files (in the full Java)
- BBM 5
- Updated: App World, Facebook, Docs2Go
- Shrink-A-OS (Optional, but recommended)
- BBSAk (Optional, excellent tool)
- Multi-language Support

Instructions:
1. Install 5.0.0.328 to PC
2. Install this over 5.0.0.328 folder
2a. Shrink your OS if you want
3. Install to phone

Platform/OS once installed: Platform 4.2.0.128 and OS version 5.0.0.328, but 5.0.0.351 is definitely there.
To check this: Go to Options > Advanced > Applications > BB Button > Modules. Scroll through and you should see files with 5.0.0.35x beside them.

Unable to send email out. but can receive them.

Since I D/L the hybrid yesterday afternoon, so far everything is very good. And I should say it's the best hybrid since I had my BB storm year ago and almost ran all hybrids from 3 great hybrid makers.

But one weired thing happened after D/L, I couldn't send out or reply emails, every time I got an error message "No message services configured. You will only be able to Save Draft."
However I can still receive all emails from my message box. I called Telus technical support last night, he said all issues related to browser, internet, web surfing, email, etc. should be taken care of by RIM, Carrier couldn't do anything...

So now I don't know it's the problem from RIM or the Hybrid, because I could send email out before I D/L this hybrid (I ran Lyric's 328/344/348 before). Also I see recently some reports about RIM having service outage...

Does anyone know the cause of this issue? Thanks.

Thank you very much for your help. I just serch the BBOS to find out the way to resend my service books. Now the problem is solved.

Now I have to say: How poor the telus technical support is !!!

As long as you have an account on BIS, You can do it thru your berry or on the BIS site. From your phone, you go to email settings and log in. once in, you click on the bb button and select service books. you'll see an option to send service books.
from BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) on pc, you log on, click on help then click on resend service books..

I note with interest that all user findings are with 9530 units. Can somebody give me a definiitve to the following: Will this hybrid work on a 9500 connected via Vodafone. I have seen too many conflicting reports on the success of Os 5.0.0.xxx under these conditions. I`m not at all conerned about "Vodafone live" however messages and email are a must?

Installed this hybrid two days ago on my Storm 9500. And once again I have to say: Excellent work, Lyricidal!
Compared to .328 it seems a bit more responsive. So far everything is working as it should, Media, Browser, Internet, Camera, Phone. I could not find any bugs caused by the hybrid yet.
After shrinking I had 2 MB more memory, which is stable as well. Radio is fine, but it was so with .328, too.
I'm very happy with this hybrid, like with all of Lyricidal's hybrids before.

I'm getting ready to try this Hybrid. Can anyone confirm if it has fixed the voice dialing problem with bluetooth headsets, like the Jawbone Prime?

Also, does it fix the low volume level on videos taken with the phone?

I'm not sure about the bluetooth setting for the Jawbone Prime, but your VAD should be up and running and the low level volume on the video's should be fixed.

Wiped my phone and did a clean install. Voice dialing with my bluetooth is better and actually works some of the time, but other times it does not. And the problem is still there with the low volume level on videos recorded with the phone. I'm thinking it must be my phone if this hybrid has fixed these two problems for others. But I do appreciate Lyric's efforts and the feedback! Looks like I might have to go all the way back to BBC's V8.5 on the 4.7 OS if I want to get my bluetooth voice dialing fully functional. Thanks, again!

Lyric, could you pls add function of central service number in SMS Text for next Hybrid?? I have not seen it yet in my device. Thanks

This is exactly what I`m talking about wrt Os 5.0.0.0XX and its hybrids . "Some of the time does not cut it." After a year of seeking the holy grail I think time has come to wonder off to Samsung or even Nokia.Even the 6V10 has occasional switch off for no apparent reasons. Do Blackbery not have the expertise to design the approriate or is the sophistication overwhelming their staff?

Lyric I really admire your dedicated attempts to improve the Storm , still using your 6v10 but can I ask the following:
I have asked this on other sites and still seek an answer. Will this hybrid work with Vodafone on a 9500.Your yes or no will suffice.Ive seen contradictions in reports and personally am tired of backup, load etc etc

even with its shortcomings, I wouldn't trade my storm for a nokia or samsung. I travel internationally and there is no better phone for me. of course, I'd love it if the os geniuses could get it to work up to its potential. but I'm pretty patient.

In South Africa the Storm is three times the price of its nearest equivalents and thus the expectation for me somewhat elevated. Vodacom/Vodafone in South Africa have yet to provide users with an update of any sort in the year since launch, quite frankly - could`nt care. Perhaps this puts into perspective the frustrations the local users have.

I would love to have the pop-up keys:D Definitely a feature that is missed and should be included!
