Thread: 9550 Hybrid 2 Build 320/321 Finding and Fixes

Here is the much anticipated build 2 for the 9550. Please comment on any findings or fixes that may be found.

I downloaded the file and installed it to my pc.

after I shrunk the OS, it appears there are only about 10 files newer than 5.0.0.320 so I didnt even bother installing it to my phone.

What are the benefits from the normal 320?

The 320 is actually what comes standard with the phone when you purchase the storm 2. The 321 files add typing efficiency, browser speed, memory usage and battery life. I installed this hybrid before I even used my phone and am very happy with it.

I am not sure where the 321 files came from.

I'm ready to try it out, but I'm curious as well.... where did those different files come from? If there is anything that would assist my typing skills, I'm willing to try it out, LOL.

this is not enough of a hybrid to really worry about.

i'd wait for the next one when there will be more files from a much newer release to go into it.

Is the homescreen update fixed on here?

I run simple weather and have had no issues with the homescreen updating.

No it's not, the temperature still updates but the weather condition animation does not, it appears we need a newer .sfi build from RIM same as the Storm 1 needed and received with 5.0.0.328, hopefully it won't be too long

Berryweather and I tried simple weather, neither change the icon only the temperature. Berryweather worked fine with the Storm 1 5.0.0.328 OS

I have heard of berryweather having some issues, but I am suprised that simple weather is not working for you.....I'm looking at my screen right now and see a clouded forecast. hmmmmm?

As far as I know and from what I've read it's in the .sfi that only RIM can change, you will find the same problem with meterberry, the numbers will change but the icon won't reflect any changes such as batter loss and color changes that meterberry uses.

The icon on the home screen will show clouds, sun or whatever it was at the time you first do the move the icon back and forth trick but afterwards the home screen won't update but the main menu does just fine. For instance right now my home screen still shows a sun with a large cloud from several hours ago but the main menu shows a sun with a much smaller cloud, both temps read the same.

I am getting my S2 today. Should I start just jump in and wipe it and put this hybrid on before I even start to set it up? Or is there even a noticable difference?

I would jump right into the hybrid. There is a noticeable difference and that is what I did. Remember the base is 320, which needs to be installed on your computer to run the Hybrid over.

This is what I was talking about, simple weather with both screen shots taken back to back with the home screen not changing but the main menu is accurate

The non-updating issue of any weather app is the SFI issue....hybrids, unfortunately, will not fix it...and same with app updates. In storm1, OS .328 has this issue fixed and all homescreen apps that usually update, work without any issues. This also includes meterberry, weather apps, and the smart calendar type apps.

I put this hybrid on and now no browser. The page loads and shows nothing. I resent service books, *228, and nothing. I am going to wipe and reload the straight .320.
