Talking Battery drain BB 8520 OS 4.6 to 5.0

Battery drain problem of BB has been well documented and I have tried most of them and still no improvement and decided to do one last throw of the dice.

History: I have been using 8520 with OS 4.6 with no problem for years and all of a sudden, one day, it began to drain battery horribly. (Gone in 10 minutes)

When new batteries made no difference, I upgraded OS to 5.0.0. and it made a marked improvement. Now, it lasts 3 hours (which is useless as a mobile phone).
This is not a hardware problem (if so, why the OS upgrade made any difference?) and battery is new. So it is an OS problem (am I correct?)

I have tried taking the battery off and reboot and I checked that only basic 5 app are running. I even re-installed the newly downloaded 5.0.0 but made zero
    difference.

Could anyone tell me what is happening? Any constructive suggestion much appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

Hi Tomo, sorry to hear of the problems you are having.

Do you think perhaps that it still may be a hardware issue? What if the radio antenna was faulty and causing it to work overtime and therefore explaining the battery drain? And maybe upgrading to 5.0 was able to alleviate the problem a bit as the OS handles the radio signal much better?

    Just a couple thoughts.

Thanks for replying, Joe. By "Radio antenna|", you mean internet connection? I had it switched off all the time but it made any difference.

I'm talking specifically about the actual piece of hardware that bring in your cellular network. Perhaps it's faulty?

Thanks, Nahiiii and Joe a few weeks ago. I brought it to a repair shop and using a genuine made in japan battery as the shop man suggested improved the performance a bit but not good enough still.

the shop man then suggested there might be something wrong with the conductor that brings electricity from the charger to BB mother board. But with the money he charges, i could buy
a good 2nd hand one, so I decided not to pursue anymore. Cause of the problem remains a mystery. Thank you for your input. I appreciated it.
