Thread: I'm calling foul on new Tour themes

I just did a Whois search for Bplay. I'm calling foul on the release of the Tour themes because the website address is registerd to some place in Waterloo, Ontario Canada.

If RIM (I'm assuming its RIM) is going to release themes then they should release the software for all of us to use.

i'm a little slow...can you not make tour themes with 4.7 cdk?

Yeah Stiefler said that he thought they were some arm of RIM. I agree doesn't seem right at all, and I will add tot that as well. To be the only place selling them and selling for $8.00 is an outrage.

I agree...but it's RIM and they do whatever they want....I think it will leak though sooner than later.

No, because there is no option for the tour yet. Plazmic needs to be updated to include tour.

Hmm, RIM is playing some games now. I don't know why they don't just release the software when the phone is released. Doesn't make sense.

I have to agree with Olta here. RIM may do whatever they want, but sooner or later it will get leaked.

Indeed I did! I just hope that it is a sign from RIM that it is coming. But if you go on RIM's mobile site and you hit games, it always took you to Bplay. Well it did, I havent tried recently. But that gave me more proof the RIM indeeds has some ownership over Bplay. Also, Bplay is owned by Magmic, which makes stock games for BlackBerry devices. It all adds up (in my head)

Olta, I have always wondered why RIM doesn't just keep Plazmic up to date with the devices they launch. They give it away so why can't they just release it? Is it a screen resolution issue, or some of problem with layout?

I think its a horrible move for RIM to try and keep theme building in house. It would take several years to match the theme output one month of what the theme builders could do. Themes are a big part of the BB community that would be a huge blow to all of us. What's next, in house apps only? That's probably a bit pessimistic but point made.

That really is a good point, never thought about it like. That would be pathetic if RIM did keep that in house. Let's hope they are not planning that move.

I wonder if RIM has asked Plazmic not to do an update until the new storm comes out. Just so Plazmic does not have to do multiple updates. Then again I would Assume (and you know what happens with that) that the new storm and the first storm the themes would work on each one. That is my opinoin

I have no idea what they are thinking but in my opinion what they are doing is not their best move I hope they do release an update soon.

It seems for every step RIM makes forward they are stepping in a steaming pile at the same time when it comes to Plazmic. It is counterproductive to offer it up then keep holding it back, maybe they need to realize they don't sell the BB on the boring carrier themes that suck of 3MB of memory and do very little. Individuality is key to the BB world and the themes help us achieve that. Themes are like the genie in the bottle, you can't put it back in the bottle now even if they wanted to.

You may be right P3. But I see it as strange that the Tour simulator was recently released and then a few Tour themes come out. I'm sticking with my guess that they figured out a way to make 8900 themes work.
