If BlackBerry 10 Was Launched For the PlayBook Would You Buy One?

Let's say you're wanting to buy a tablet. You've looked at the Android and iPad offerings but since you're already a BlackBerry phone user you'd like to get a PlayBook but you're still not sure. The specs and the price is right especially compared to the iPad offerings and you know BlackBerry is more secure than anything running Android, but version 2.0 of the PlayBook OS is showing its age. Then you see this bit of news come out of Waterloo:
In a surprise announcement today BlackBerry CEO John Chen unveiled a new quad-core version of their venerable PlayBook tablet and also announced that they would be releasing a tablet version of their latest smart phone OS for current and newest model of the PlayBook. Prices for the 3rd Generation PlayBook tablet are expected to start at $299.99 for an unlocked version, which will ship with wifi+cellular capabilities.
How would an announcement like that influence your upcoming purchase?

Figured I'd post my comment on Twitter to here...

There were several thousand people who bought PlayBooks just on the face that it was once promised to get BB10. So I think that yes, the majority would buy a PlayBook that came with BB10 installed.

Well I know it was hoped for...and then subsequently killed when Thorsten was running the show. But maybe with new leadership they will realize what an iPad killer the PlayBook would be with BB10 and priced appropriately.

Why they decided to not launch BB10 on the Playbook was prob one of the biggest blunders for BlackBerry in 2013. They essentially lost the trust and potential ambassadorship from thousands of Android and iPhone users who wanted to see BB10 in action on their fire-sale tablet. They also lost a lot of loyal BB users who began to lose BlackBerry's trust. And a double whammy in 2013 when they didn't release Theme Builder v7 (which we ended up leaking).

There are so many important aspects of a mobile OS BlackBerry is missing that a tablet would only make it obvious.

Build a ecosystem...then expand into incredibly dangerous waters.

Can't use BBM on multiple devices (who wants multiple BBM chats/contact lists?)

No BlackBerry Cloud services. So we'd have to rely on 3rd party integration for documents on either devices.

BB10 still sucks at landscape (in the few areas landscape is available)

Can game saves be accessed on different devices with same BBID? (serious question, if not, need that)

I think the 4g PlayBook...with BB 10...would be an iPad mini Tab 3 killer...especially if you priced it in the $300 range.

Doesn't sound like deal killers or reasons to give up on the platform. Apple and Android weren't perfect. It wasn't til around iOS 5 that the iPhone came into its own. Which means that the First Gen iPad suffered too. Same for Android and their growing pains. With each update the OS is improving. IMO the things you list will get addressed. However we've got to get people embracing the OS if we want the changes to happen faster.

Yes I would buy a playbook running BB10, my first Blackberry device an original playbook now nearly three years old and with updates it improved to a very usable if underrated tablet,
Which is still in good condition it would be nice to have a playbook 2 but Blackberry needs to put it's efforts into launching the Q20 keyboard device and Z3,
So will carry on with the original playbook, waiting for Q20 to arrive.

Absolutely without doubt that I will buy the new Playbook. I have been using my 1st generation PB since it was launched and I am still using it everyday. Although I have a IPad 2 as as a gift. I still prefer my PB for my work.
