my year (nearly) with Blackberry phones

Hi as a Nokia owner for years and it`s sad demise i needed to find a replacement, and Blackberry BB10 was on its way and looked good, waited for Z10 and it`s a brilliant touch screen phone, then decided to try a real keyboard and tried Q10 but settled on Q 5 it does every thing i needand has been reliable with amazing battery life and no problems, after hearing that the legacy Blackberry phones were not good and i have owned and used every OS system around apart from BBos, and after advice and suggestions from members many thanks, the Bold 9900 and 9700 were top ones to try, i found a Bold 9700 in white on os 5, reading in the forum can update to os 6 but seems opinions are for and against updating, so far the only problem caused by a faulty sim card after replacing it the 9700 has worked without fault, no freezing or software hiccups will keep os 5,then a Bold 9900 in Black came my way so on to BBos 7.1 and touch screen, the keyboard is for me the best yet and it`s not too big, the Track pad/ menu/ back keys with the touch screen is a perfect combination, only one fault happened after downloading two apps system locked upso removed any apps/games not needed only keeping the minimum i actually use and since then the 9900 has worked without a hitch, the battery life for my use is very good, the touch screen is quick and responsive, calls/texts/E mail and signal reception/ Wi- Fi / hot spot they workwell, the browser and i use Opera mini as well are quick to load as the data speeds i have available mean the bolds are running at their maximum, yes the BB10 browser is the fastest in my experience but the BBos are better than i expected, and being able to remove/replace batteries is a big plus, the build quality is very good and the Bolds look premium i do put the 9900 on my desk at work and am not ashamed to be seen with a Blackberry and i enjoy using them all, if i had to pick only one to keep and use as main phone it has to be the Bold 9900 it just feels right and does the job, waiting for calls of lunatic and BB10 is best, but if BBos 5/6/7.1 meets your needs why not?, a pity the 9900 and BBos was not kept and improved along with BB10 then there is a choice, would i buy a new Bold 9900 at the right price yes, if Blackberry support did end i have tried the bolds without bis and they would be still usable and i am keeping them, so it`s been a busy year with Blackberry and do i regret moving to Blackberry no way,i have learned a lot from this site, and members posts to help with problems all done with intention to help fellow owners, many thanks to everyone, and not forgetting Joe and his colleagues for a brilliant place for Blackberry owners to meet, 2014 is nearly here and looking forward to another year with Blackberry and of course Blackberry OS.com Happy new year.

Glad you found devices that work for you, regardless of what the media or naysayers say.

Black Berry phones are good for use. But I think, Nokia is the best. Because Nokia has many features and cheapest price.

Hi jaheen100, BlackBerry BB10 phones are very usable and equal to other makes, dare I say superior? must take a balanced view,
Legacy BBos devices are very usable and should not be dismissed, as for Nokia windows phone 8 similar to I phone too restricted,
BB10 Has a very fast browser with a unique feature in mobile phones, flash player support which is still needed, every time I use my windows phone 8 and see
Media not supported should be using a BlackBerry with BB10, as for price yes Nokia 520 is cheap with lower specification many apps won't work on it and support life will be short,
As my windows 7 was, If BlackBerry can release a BB10 Phone at similar price watch out Nokia, and BlackBerry update support for BB10 is the best,
In the end it's down to personal choice and I have bought a few lemons in my time, But BlackBerry is not among them, good luck choosing your phone.
