    Blackberry should launch playbook 2

Blackberry should re launch playbook 2, upgrade system chip with 2GB Ram, and install BB10 all at minimum cost, no new tooling/packaging etc, the 7" tablets are here to stay why are competitors launching many options?, if customers are after a tablet they have to go to Android/ I pad, not windows no 7" option or now BlackBerry too, once you buy into one of the others and the investment in apps etc, many will move to phones with the same ecosystem, and business users will prefer unified system, playbook had the advantage of high quality build and probably the best O.S. on the market, but bad product marketing and pricing a little to high, as an original playbook owner and supporter because no other tablet can meet my needs, I am using surface RT tablet to post this ( its my worst buy to date as no 10" playbook available ) my playbook is on charge, BlackBerry needs to do something as time is running out, or the CEO should be sent packing after his tablets are on the way out statement, most people want a phone and tablet and BlackBerry are not providing this for present and future customers, BB10 was a last chance to lead the way, BlackBerry is concentrating on BB10 phones sorry playbook owners, then new OS7 phone being launched time and money wasted, BlackBerry being economical with the truth again?, if this was in the football world he would have been sacked ages ago, if playbook 2 launched I would buy one, perhaps if e mails were sent to BlackBerry by enough potential buyers they could make a limited production run to test the market, BlackBerry have nothing to loose but many more customers. A Z10/playbook owner and user not a troll.

The tablet market isn't profitable unless you're Apple.

And BlackBerry doesn't have the ability to build top-tier tablets for the price of entry level like Google does with Nexus series.

Launching another PlayBook would take resources (money, R&D, software engineers) away from BlackBerry 10 and other projects they are working on.

Plus, they got some other cool stuff lined up, that hasn't been discussed a lot in the public.

Agreed. Unfortunately I suspect we could extend the same reasoning, on the basis of public filings, to say the smartphone market isn't profitable unless you're Apple or Samsung. Nokia's alliance with Microsoft so far has not turned the former cell phone giant around, and HTC, Sony and LG appear to be going nowhere in the Android handset market. As for Chinese manufacturers like Huawei and ZTE, who knows?

As a fan, I am cheering for Blackberry, but as a realist, the situation looks rather dire. BBOS 10 was too little, too late, and the phones are priced wrong.

I would be interested in any insights you might share as to the "cool stuff...that hasn't been discussed a lot in the public" - even though it's difficult to imagine BBRY coming up with a game changing product or service at this stage.

BlackBerry is able to offer world-class offerings for a fee. Hardware was never their thing, it was BES and the services they sell that generate their revenue.

As to what's coming, I can't say much, but if you look around BlackBerry blogs and forums, you will get some hints.

Actually even though Nokia has not turned a profit they are actually beggining to get a lot of lumia phones out into the market and are capturing mindshare which is just as important imo as revenue.

I think a PlayBook 2 would be awesome! I rock 3 PlayBook. Sadly, BlackBerry wasn't very successful with the first launch and they can't compete with the lower manufacturing and high volume of the competition.

Lets call the Z30 the playBook 2 and move on

I think BlackBerry is working on the connected "Dumb" Screens concept. hopefully we get a glimpse at it coming jam sessions. As much as I would love to have a playbook 2 with upgraded spec and BB10 on it, I don't see it happening. Hell, I bought a second playbook (used) after they announced that BB10 is not coming to playbook. in the interest of greater good, BB should focus all their resources on BB10 and mobile computing (M2M, Dumb screens, ect).
