new Blackberry Z10 owner in UK

Hi, just bought my Blackberry Z10, it been a long wait, thank you to every one who said wait for Z10,
I set out to find one today called at four retailers in my area, black ones and contract customers have priority, and others four to six weeks wait,
ended up at my regular retailer as I intended to, my other visits where to see if working demo Z 10 where there, yes all had good display near front
of shops and Blackberry UK reps have visited all shops in my area, Blackberry UK have done a good job, ask about Z10 all staff new about the phone
and well trained, back to my regular shop now resigned to waiting four/six weeks, hello sir a new Z10 ? The owner knows me All my devices supplied by him playbook as well, contract only I suppose? No sim free/ unlocked at official price and flip case and micro sim all in a good deal at 480GBP,
he had Blackberry stand with all official cases on display other accessories to follow soon, and a few white Z10 if I prefered a white one, Blackberry phones are black?,this is my first BlackBerry phone, as I write this the new Z10 and case are on my desk as yet still sealed, I can not wait any longer
to unbox them, I am amazed that all other members in Canada and the US ,have not received the Z10 on the same day as UK ,
I hope you all get your phones as soon as Blackberry can get them there. Now off to set up and explore the new phone and BB10,
will post again after using my Z10 for a while.

Sweet, congratulatons. We get ours on Tues, the 5th here in Canada and the poor Americans have to wait til March, if you can believe it. I personally, have to wait until August, when my upgrade and contract is due. Until then, post lots of pictures to keep us stoked.

Hi Joe, the Z10 comes in a small but solid black box with Z10 in blue/purple and BlackBerry in white, nothing else, inside the Z10 sits in a tray all black with Blackberry at the
bottom of the phone in silver, it has three silver buttons on right side and one on top that's it, and two ports on left side, the back feels similar to playbook,no shiny plastic
all matt and no finger prints, its size 4.2" Screen is just right, the overall size and its slim,no brick here I have small hands and can use the whole screen with ease,
build quality is same as playbook first class, it comes with quick start guide in colour shows how to remove back pull up from bottom it warns it may bend, I used finger nails
both sides at once gently no bending did not want to risk damage and it is a tight fit when re fitted, no flexing or creaking this phone is solid but not heavy feels premium quality,
to me its a work of art all black a touch of class did not want to put it down, set up is quick and simple, with on screen gesture guide for any one not a Playbook owner,
screen is sensitive and it flows smooth as silk, had to try browser first, desktop sites and with flash player switched on [ off by default ] it is fast loading and played a video clip
on BBC I player no switch to wi-fi, 3g stream like playbook, video played smoothly and sound in sync picture quality/colours/ sound first class,
the key board is the best I have used , email set up is easy, I have eight accounts hotmail/Gmail/ Aol, it set them up as quick as I could type, I'm not good,
the hub brings everything in one place, a quick peek at mail/messages etc without loosing the webpage a brilliant idea, and swipe up to unlock no button needed,
the camara with time shift mode is good fun and a chance remove a bad picture, picture quality is good ,[ but I am spoilt as a Nokia N8 camara user it beats lumia 920, yes I tried
windows phone its going now, ] it comes with 2g/3g+/4g all for UK networks ready to use out of the box, reception is very good , wi fi connects quickly and no lost connection,
WiFi hot spot easy set up and all devices I tried to connect did first time, but does use vital power but nice to have, battery life on first charge and I have used all Z10s
systems pretty hard, is I think is very good , after a few cycles it will be better,4g will reduce run time but speed costs,
BlackBerry world, apps are there I found tune in radio app it works well and is vital for me, Skype would be nice to have, and Angry Birds Star Wars its free, had to download it
for my granddaughters, honestly, better try it out, all pre installed apps work well, no bloat ware here as some systems have, but for my needs the excellent browser with flash support I can do every thing required, flash player was the bonus, I forgot the Z10 has a compact charger and USB cable good quality, and headset is ok I never use them,
I selected the genuine flip shell case fits well and good quality and will protect the phone, not cheap worth it,
when I said I might buy the new Blackberry phone to family and friends [ all I phone/ I pad owners] was I mad Blackberries are rubbish, don't waste your money,
red rag to a bull, so here I am with my first BlackBerry phone, its mind blowing, even better than my Nokia N9,
would I recommend the Z10 yes, and am proud to have a Blackberry phone it is up with the best, buy one and enjoy.

Hi original Lucy , pictures do not show the Z10 at its best you have to see/hold it to appreciate it, try a demo in-store its the only way, shame you have to wait till August,
but you are in for a treat, Blackberry have created a phone that can stand along with the best,

Question: Does the Z10 have a single volume setting like the playbook or does it have sound profiles like the current blackberries?

Hi there is a master volume control,

    - - - Updated - - -

Hi just fitted my Z10 into the flip shell case, perfect fit, and it has a neat feature if you leave screen on and close it screen shuts off, and then open it screen comes on
no swipe needed, and it is NFC friendly, brilliant, tested the browser today its very fast loading web sites, better than playbook, and voice control is ok, but does fail some times,

Yea, sometimes the voice control has a hard time getting the words accurately if the sentences are longer. I'm sure this will be refined within the next couple updates.

Got my Z10 in the UK two days ago. I had problems getting data into it from my old 9300 using BB Link. Gave up and got contacts into Z10 using Gmail sync.
However, BB link started working after a Z10 battery pull. The phone is amazing. I even managed to get a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse working with the phone. Just like you can with the Playbook. Battery life is OK if you watch your power management by turning off wifi, bluetooth and NFC if you don't need them. This is easy to do with a simple swipe down and tap to turn function on and off. It's best to charge each night. You can get a sleep mode clock display with alerts automatically turned off. Unfortunately I could not find a way of really putting the phone to sleep with a wake up at a pre-determined time. I would like to know if the Z10 has a real low power sleep mode. I guess if connected to a charger each night it is not an issue for most people. The application store will get better but tbere are missing apps like Kindle and Video chat, I managed a video call from my PlayBook to the phone but couldn't initiate from the phone to PlayBook over local wifi as PlayBook does not have BBM. Either phone needs videochat or PlayBook needs BBM. Maybe the BB10 PlayBook update will fix this.

Hi, still enjoying using my Z10, and need to charge it twice a day, I'm a heavy internet / Camara user, the USB charging lead is very- very tight to insert and remove
on my phone, micro USB lead should require no effort to insert/ remove,[ many Nokia N900 owners I'm one, the USB port detached from motherboard because the lead was tight
thought it was ok at the time, you learn by experience, just after guarantee expired,,phone scrap] tried several makes of leads from my collection and HTC one slides in /out
no effort required, problem solved, still using Blackberry charger unit, so if your new Z10 has very tight micro usb lead be careful,
the Z10 is the best phone I have owned so far its amazing and the camara with time shift mode is brilliant idea,

Thanks for the feedback jaycee and merlin.

I noticed as well that the micro usb was a bit tight. That eventually works it way smoother after awhile of inserting and and taking the plugin out. Keep us posted on more of what you love or don't love about the Z10!

A few more questions if I may:
    1. Does it have bedside clock mode?
    2. Is the alarm volume also dictated by the master volume?
    3. Does it do gapless audio playback?
    4. Does it support sending the song metadata when streaming via bluetooth. You need a car deck that supports it, if you have one and could give it a try that would be great.

BTW if there's a Q&A thread that I missed let me know and I'll post there instead.

Is there an integrated instant messaging client? Out of the box what are services you can chat on?

On Gmail emails went back to 25th of Jan but I deleted a lot that day cleared all my inbox so not sure if you can see back further you can see about 30 days of emails on Outlook and both have search features too

I love my Z10 the phone is amazingly quick and smooth the Facebook and Twitter apps look superb even if there is still to add a few features too them just really is a excellent phone can edit and use filters on pictures that I am having a lot of fun with and the virtual keyboard is a real joy to use the Z10 is as good as promised in my opinion and even though I usually prefer QWERTY devices I am so glad I got Z10

Hi Z10 just gets better, tested it against, nexus-s/windows phone/ Nokia N9, all without flash player, Z10 with it on should be slower loading flash heavy sites and connected to wi fi,
as Z10 pulls in 3g+ signal the best, the others can not match it, no 4g yet, the Z10 is amazing leaves the others standing, smoked by windows?. Smoked by Blackberry,
file manager not good hard to use by one reviewer, its the best and well laid out and simple to use,I prefer grid view, and the hub is brilliant I can check all my notifications
in one place, and using peek view and not loose my web page, and I like red LED instead of sound for notifications,
[wish list for a Z10 mk2 charger with magnetic connector as playbook, and larger battery and back cover as accessory by Blackberry,] its perfect as it is now.
