Thread: Why carry the BlackBerry

I had someone ask me that question the other day, which also happened to be Labour Day. My answer to the question was of course all the obvious reasons why the BlackBerry is such a great device, but, also one other very big reason. I asked him to remove the battery from his phone to see the country of manufacturing. First off, he didn't have a removable battery, but, more important was my phone said Mexico. A country that belongs to NAFTA. His was China. My choices these days are to support companies that support their workers rights and pay taxes that help to improve quality of life and put food on the dinner table. Respectful working conditions and respect of the worker. Just my 2 cents. Some companies feel that the responsibility of providing jobs in North America is not their's. I feel it is everyone's responsibility to not bite the hands that feed them. My Wednesday thought of the day.

I agree! I also carry a Blackberry because it's Canadian made and I simply put prefer a blackberry. Great device the 9900 Bold is awesome.

I carry a BB because well its a BB, nuff said.

Well, before you fire back on me, let me tell you that I'm a new user of BB 9360. Rather this is my first BB device, prior to this I had an Android though I still have it with me. Honestly I found Android to offer more flexibility than BB, now it maybe because I've just started exploring BB, but until now I'd weigh an Android higher than BB. No offense meant to anyone.

Hey, none taken here with me. I play both sides of the alley as well. As you can see, I have an older Torch 9800 with really old OS6.
I also have a highly rooted HTC Inspire. Androids allow you to really dig deep into soft and hardware to make it a completely different phone that what the Manufacturer intended. I've got it running so much faster than my 9800.

However, having dug myself into a hole, my Blackberry is rock solid, doesn't stop working just because, and is a GREAT business phone.

So there ya go, we'll both get tossed out of here together.

I agree Lucy. The Blackberry is a good phone. They will improve as time goes on as well. I myself as well like to support Canadian companies and ones
that don't get everything manufactured in china. No offence to anyone that likes chinese products! Furthermore, I find there to be many that just because someone had a problem with a different BB that I might have the same problem. I have a Bold 9900 and it runs awesome. Even left it in the car once
in VERY cold weather and pulled the battery brought it into the house and it works fine. (If your BB gets left outside somewhere and freezes no promises but
pull the battery right away. Wait 1hr for it to get totally warm. Dont have phone on a vent with warm air in a car or house gradually let the device get warm then reinsert the battery. The reason for not raising the temp of the phone quickly is to let any condensation evaporate. Personnally I would recommend if it's colder allow longer for the phone to get warm and evaporate condensation. Colder it gets the longer it should sit. Oh one final thing, remove the sim card and memory card as well when you pull the battery.)

One of the joys of the modern smartphone era is that there are many, many phones to choose from. I choose BlackBerry because it serves as the perfect device for what I use a SMARTPHONE for without distracting me things I need a to be doing......to each his/her own

I think it makes me feel like the proud and gentle to have a great phone i think its the best to feel like rich

i dont buy BlackBerry coz its canadian...i buy it coz i think its a great product and fits me well. now, if anyone thinks they need to support BB coz its NA company so be it as long as they support BB...
