Yes, it will come, but in what way we don't know for sure yet. It may come in the form of data only through the 3G PlayBook via Verizon. This is how the handsets are setup now, so it wouldn't surprise me if Verizon continues to hold Skype for BlackBerry.

But, I've heard that Skype will also come to the PB in general with WiFi support. We'll keep you updated on anything new on this.

We really hope that the WI FI version of skype appears soon for the playbook, and we are able to dowload a Skype app directly from the Blackberry App store.
We would love to keep in video contact with friends and family who are residing in distant places and who are successfully running Skype on their portable laptop pc's.

I live in Canada, and we never had the Skype app ever, was so hoping that with the OS 2 release of PB we might have this app .... but guess what it never happened .... i am so disappointed with skype if they can have it for verizon why can't they just put that in the app world for everyone ..... SKYPE you stink ......

Currently, there is no Skype for the BlackBerry PlayBook, but you can use Skype through a website with the browser on your Playbook.

Open the browser, enter the website https://imo.im , choose Skype, enter your username and password, login, search your contact,choose call or video call or chat.

Hope this helps you, or anyone else who wishes to Skype on their BlackBerry PlayBook as an alternate option.

I knew about this alternate website but it doesn't work, and if you get it to work, it only works for a bit but most of the time it will not work .... it is kind of annoying .... but i do appreciate your helpful attitude .

I feel your frustration. Verizon holds the monopoly on Skype for now. I'm also disappointing on how RIM's response has been to get these apps available for all BB devices. Only time will tell for now. We'll let you all know as soon as it happens.

Yeah Skype you better get your act together soon.. Else I am going to rally everyone who owns a BB like me but you don't think they are important enough to be considered for an app ....would start to boycott of its usage..... then might just have to buckle down and invent something better than your App across all os platforms and kick your selfish and self centered butts..... Don't make us do that!!!!

You see, now if only every BB user had your energy, we would of had Skype for all devices long ago.

Well I am pretty choked at skype ... It might be the start something that might lead to something ..

He guys first time here but wanted to let you know you can get skype on the Playbook, just need to sideload it...actually pretty easy and yes it works... contact me if you want to know how

Hey RICO, you can download the Skype BETA bar file from here and also a link to how to sideload the app.... List Of Working PlayBook BAR Files

Keep in mind that the video in the Skype BETA app does not work, only the text chat. This is because the Android player does not yet support the video camera.

Yup i tried it and it is not the full working version .....

It's crazy how many hangups there have been in this process. Not good for RIM...we need them to get it together and stay in business. I don't want to be left with no choices and that is what will happen when its Apple vs Google. Kinda like Democrat vs Republican but they are both just huge monopolies. Forgive my analogy

Well, there is no confirmation about that one as of yet but it would be better for us to wait and see what PB 4G has to offer

I remember we posted an article Viber App Now Available For BlackBerry Smartphones, which is available via BlackBerry App World.

We will keep everyone posted if Viber releases an application for the BlackBerry PlayBook platform.
