Thread: OS 7.1 for 9360 AT&T

New BlackBerry user here. Got a Curve 9360 for Christmas and love it. I don't remember how I lived without it. I want to upgrade to OS 7.1. No indication from AT&T as to when they will release it. How risky is it to install the leaked version? What's the worst that could happen?

A leaked OS can be risky to install for someone that's not use to dealing with bugs/errors in an OS. For some, it's not a good idea to install a leaked OS if their device is extremely important to their business; etc.

The biggest risks involved include possibly bricking your device and losing any information that hasn't been backed up. I personally have loaded a leaked 7.1 OS on my Torch 2 from at&t and it's possibly the best OS on my device to date.

As always, one should only install leaked OSes on their phones if they are comfortable with the upgrade/downgrade and unbricking processes. Thus this is only recommended for advanced users.

Thanks. I don't think I will risk it at this point. When RIM announced this OS they said all carriers will be releasing it within a few weeks so hopefully I won't need to wait much longer.

You can make a backup using Blackberry desktop software and learn how to wipe your Blackberry and installing OS.
Then you can start testing things.. it is good to get experienced with those things..
And you can always read some reviews about the laked version, some are fine...
