Thread: Wonky "On switch" on Playbook.

Just bought two days ago and operation of on switch hit and miss. Sometimes press switch for 30 seconds to start. Am I premature to return unit to store?

well i know holding the switch for more then 10 sec will shutdown the unit forcefully. But Joe just posted about the operation of the switch and the use of it. http://www.blackberryos.com/playbook...tml#post220545
if its not working as Joe explained the unit may be defective.

I would take it back for a warranty replacement for sure. If it's not working now, it's not going to get better. Good luck and let us know that the new Playbook is working. Oh yea, I'm sure that you will test it at the store before leaving.

Its possible that you might be holding the button unnecessarily. It isn't required that you hold it until the backlight turns on

What happpens if you click the button and put the unit down and just wait?

It could be doing things before you notice any backlight or graphics on the screen.

Took it back to Staples yesterday and their techie made it work several times. Short press and the red light came on. Brought it home and I could get it to work very infrequently. Pressed the button and place unit down 30 minutes ago. Still waiting! Big mistake in not trying it myself at Staples... Guess I will return again!
